The Canadian Public Service Data/AI Challenge drives innovation in #AI. 🙌 Enhanced #OpenData - the locations of Ontario's Correctional Institutions - now includes latitude and longitude coordinates, making it easier for people to create interactive maps using this data in popular web mapping programs 🌎. The #data can be downloaded from the Ontario Data Catalogue in CSV, TSV, JSON, or XML formats, or accessed through the catalogue's #CKAN API. While not in time for this year's #30DayMapChallenge this #Mapbox fly-to of Ontario's CECC was created using this open data in the #rstats package {mapgl} in two lines of code inspired by an example from the challenge. This is one of over thirty datasets publicly shared by the Ministry of the Solicitor General as open data. New episode of Public Sector Future! Thank you to Ima Okonny for joining me on the latest episode of Public Sector Future.   As the Chief Data Officer for Economic and Social Development Canada, Ima works across the department of 40,000 people to make it possible to use data to better serve Canadians. Three things really struck me throughout the discussion: intention, context and impact.   Her team’s dedication to establishing robust data platforms, fostering data literacy, and implementing responsible AI practices was a central theme of our conversation, and she shared valuable lessons and approaches on each of these. One key approach Ima shares is a deliberate approach to bringing in a wide range of stakeholders from an early stage - including privacy, legal and policy colleagues - so that collaboration and learning is built in from the beginning. Government of Canada - Canadian Program for Cyber Security Certification Request for Information: Summary Report In May 2024, Public Services and Procurement Canada | Services publics et Approvisionnement Canada (PSPC) released a Request for Information (RFI) to assess industry readiness for the Canadian Program for Cyber Security Certification (CPCSC). On November 18th, PSPC released a summary report concerning the response it received to the RFI. The RFI gathered responses from 91 organizations, including contractors, consultants and service providers. The findings outline key readiness levels, challenges and investment expectations across sectors, emphasizing the importance of alignment with the United States Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). https://lnkd.in/gu-eWApy

In 2023, the IPC joined our federal, provincial, and territorial counterparts to release a set of comprehensive principles guiding the responsible and trustworthy deployment of generative AI technologies in Canada. The principles offer clear guidance on ethical, transparent, and accountable adoption and implementation of AI technologies, with particular focus on the unique challenges posed by generative AI.
