Are you tired of seeing the letters AI? What if AI was "Authentic Influence"?? Authenticity isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being real. I have a few go to ideas that help me lead authentically and build influence: 1. Be Real, Not Perfect - Show up as you are, flaws and all. When you own your imperfections, you create an environment where your team feels safe to be themselves. 2. Align Values with Actions - Your influence grows when your actions match your values. Take a moment to reflect: Are your decisions aligned with what you believe in? When your team sees you stand for your values, it builds trust and loyalty. 3. Listen and Empathize - Authentic leaders listen to understand, not just to respond. By truly hearing your team, you foster a culture of respect and openness. Being an authentic leader isn’t about having it all together (I certainly don't, and I don't have all the answers), but I do focus on connecting with others, standing for what matters, and making room for others to have a voice. Be Authentic - influence will come! #authenticleadership #influence

There should be a "human-moat watermark" - the wave of horrible, shitty, pseudo-personalised sales emails and messages on Linkedin and elsewhere is pandemic. We need an invisible watermark for AI-generated content and it should reflect the degree of AI involvement - and there should be a option in inboxes/phones, that allows the potential recipient to filter for that. Services that do not follow this, can get blacklisted. Its ridiculous, that even in paid services you get flooded with this BS content. Let me know if you build this <3

One Shot, One Chance: The Power of Preparation Last night's VP debate was a clear reminder of an important lesson in both politics and business: preparation is everything. Vance came in ready—confident, composed, and prepared. Walz, on the other hand, seemed out of his depth. Why? Because he didn’t have the reps in. It’s a lesson I was taught early on when raising capital. In high-stakes situations like these, you only get one silver bullet. When you're pitching investors, selling a business idea, or even standing on a debate stage, the margin for error is slim. You might think you can wing it, but in reality, success depends on practice. Running through your pitch, refining your responses, and getting feedback ensures you’re ready when it’s time to deliver. You can't expect to excel without putting in the effort behind the scenes. Just like Vance, who clearly did his homework, preparation is your greatest asset when the pressure is on. Remember, you only get one shot—make sure it's your best.

Wednesday insight 💡 As technical adoption blockers for GenAI-Enterprise-Automation are being removed, we are seeing the rise of a new class of blockers: 1) Businesses can't define these processes, often because these definitions don't exist beyond conventional wisdom and job security ammo 2) Businesses can't point at the data that supports decision making (how do you prioritize, how do you get the customer / product / case / etc details, who is responsible, etc) 3) Businesses have no idea what good is - SLAs and measurable metrics are rarely defined, and many qualitative measures on the output of (sub)processes are either beyond vague or don't exist 4) Businesses have no idea what the total-cost-of-x baseline is, and don't have a clue on how to measure it. They have no idea what are the resources (human, software, etc) necessary to complete a task, and how to measure their cost , efficiency, and quality. Conclusions: * Even if no one ever implements a GenAI solutions in production, just going through the exercise above can lead to >>50% efficiency gains (ask Elon...). *Luckily, no one will ever actually do the above beyond a few trivial tasks, because the gains of automation will be so big, such that even the qualitative hand waving will see it 🤷‍♂️ #ai #genai #automation #enterprise #efficiency #automation

The humane AI pin promised to be the future. But fell short on expectations. The problem is, that there's no real use case (yet). A phone can do everything better and faster. This would be a prime example of a pivot. Instead of trying to be everything for everyone. It could pivot itself to become an invaluable tool. - Help sight impaired people navigate their environment - Be a personal assistant for the elderly - Function as a mental health tracker - Become the ultimate interactive travel guide (and translator) - Always "on" security and personal safety device That's the power of focussing on 1 thing and doing it exceptionally well. Maximising utility. And broadening market appeal. By targeting specific, meaningful needs. I still have high hopes for Humane. They're either incredibly ahead of the curve. Or simply too broadly marketed. For now.

The “founder mode” talk from silicon valley shows, more than anything, an ignorance of best practices in managing effectively a growing, large company and a lack of discipline in reading solid, time-tested books on business/management/leadership. Drucker writes almost 50 years ago of how a leader must not just “skip-report” but should cut immediately underneath and go to the front of the battle lines for intel. In the case the leader can’t make it, the leader should like a good military general, send an aide to bring intel back. But under no circumstances should a leader rely solely on the direct subordinate’s reporting. This seems like what is amorphously/poorly articulated as founder-mode. Perhaps let’s call it traditionally recommended best practices of management.

Achieving profitability is the hardest part of building a startup.  The second hardest part is developing scalable infrastructure. We are tackling both head on right now. A little over half way through the journey to cash flow positive, I expect to hit it right around our initially projected timeline.  As it relates to scalable infrastructure, this one is a short term beast for us. We have our swords out and are making progress in slaying the beast every day.   We are developing our own project, order and digital asset management system tied in with salesforce. As our model is unique and still evolving we’ve opted to go a route that will require a cutover down the road but prefer to further understand customer and actual market needs prior to deploying capital. The past three weeks have yielded significant progress. I imagine we are still another 5-9 out from our MVP flowing the way we want. At the same time we are rolling out a new finance squad and workflow also tied into the above. My gut instinct is that we will be 3x more productive at a minimum when we get on the other side of this and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is 4-5x or more. We‘ll have gone from proof of concept, to validation to ready to full on scale in under 18 months. Shooting for 100% + CAGR ‘24-‘28 which will put us at a $50MM run rate. But we won’t let CAGR goals get in the way of optimizing the integration of work with life. If we hit $40MM instead of $50MM, are profitable and have the best community in emerging CPG for what we do than that’s ok too 🤘 It’s easy to want to move behind the early and challenging days of a startup but before you know it you’re reminiscing on them. For the first time in 18 years I can truly say I am embracing the journey being the destination. To all the other folks out there crazy enough to be building or working in a startup, keep going and don't forget to step back and smell the 🌹 once in a while 🫡

The defining factor for identifying expertise in any area is: 1) documented depth of time spent in a subject matter, 2) publisher or noted contributor to peer reviewed research 3) quantifiable application experience. I’ve shared prior on podcasts, webinars, through publications and media the fact that not all AI is created equal nor are all AI “subject matter experts” qualified to weigh in. And Dr Rivas, PhD, is a Chief Architect at KLaunch. His expertise is in Natural Language Processing, deep learning, neural network, text analytics, LLMs and conversational AI. Before joining KLaunch, he spent several summers at NASA, working on various projects including machine learning for mission risk prediction. At KLaunch, Rivas leads the the AWS and the private LLM infrastructures.
