Music Royalties Inc. (‘MRI’) is pleased to announce the payment of its 54th dividend representing: 1)     a cumulative $0.124 per share in dividends and 2)     a total of over $9 million has been paid out to shareholders since 2019. The cumulative 12.4 cents in dividends represents an 83% return on capital for initial investors who invested at $0.15 per share, 31% in dividends for $0.40 per share investors and up to 25% in dividends for $0.50 per share investors before capital gains. New investors at $0.50 per share receive $0.036 per year for a starting 7.2% yield, which is more than double the average S&P/TSX 60 dividend of 3.1% and more than five times the S&P 500 dividend yield of 1.3%. The VFX industry generated roughly $1.4 billion of revenue in Quebec in 2023. That's $1.4b of money from elsewhere, coming into the region.   For every dollar, it's estimated there's $6 - $12 of additional economic windfall.   The QC government has decided to reduce the tax credit that incentivizes clients to send work into the region, making Quebec no longer competitive, whereas elsewhere in the world, regions are increasing these tax credits. This has put the entire Quebec VFX industry in peril.   The industry is asking the Coalition Avenir Quebec government and PM Legault to delay the effective date of the changes, and give us time to propose an alternative solution that will meet their needs while safeguarding the industry within the region. https://lnkd.in/eDRAubVJ

Lighting in video games is more than just a way to see where you're going. It's a vital component that breathes life into the worlds we create. It shapes the atmosphere, evokes emotions, and can influence gameplay. 💡 Atmosphere and Mood: The right lighting sets the tone of your game. Whether it's the eerie shadows of a horror game or the warm, inviting neon glow of a (almost) cozy diner, lighting pulls players into your world. 🔦 Guiding Players: Strategic lighting can subtly direct players where to go or highlight important objects and areas. It's like having an invisible hand guiding you through the adventure. 🕯 Realism and Immersion: Advanced lighting techniques, like those available in UE5, make environments look more realistic. Dynamic shadows, reflections, and global illumination all contribute to creating immersive experiences. 🤣 Emotional Impact: Light can convey emotions and narrative elements without a single word. Think of the dramatic use of light and shadow in a cutscene or the sudden change in lighting to signal a plot twist. With Unreal Engine 5, I was blown away by the power and flexibility it offers for lighting. The real-time global illumination and dynamic lighting capabilities are game-changers. The answer is provided by Maria Rua Aguete : - cTV 64% - Mobile 28% - DMS (BYOD STB) 24% - Computer 18% - Tablet 16% - STB (from operators) 10% - Game console 6% This shows people consume by a wide majority on a TV : 98%, on the go is second 44%, computer and game console is marginal. Also interesting to see that pay TV STB is very low, although Omdia mentioned worldwide, 20% of users access to Netflix via a pay TV subscription. Last, in US BYOD viewing (24%) is more than twice higher than pay TV STB (10%). I would love to know if we have similar data for other countries in the world. Take Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick makes it painfully clear that Take Two is working with Zynga to bring GTA Online to mobile. Not GTA6 exactly but GTAOnline multiplayer. --- VideoGameChronicle: "Take-Two still wants to bring its biggest IP to mobile “WE HAVE TO TRY AND WE WILL TRY,” SAYS CEO STRAUSS ZELNICK" Two years since it completed its takeover of Zynga, Take-Two is still trying to figure out a way to bring its biggest franchises to mobile. “Perhaps most importantly we have the ability together, from both a development and a publishing point of view, to optimise the creation of new titles based on Take-Two’s core intellectual property,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said when the deal was announced. “We believe we have the best collection of console and PC intellectual property in the interactive entertainment business and it’s basically nearly entirely un-exploited from mobile and free-to-play around the world.” At a TD Cowen conference this week, Zelnick was asked whether Take-Two had made any progress towards fulfilling this ambition, or even whether the goal was still part of the company’s multi-year pipeline plan. “You’re kind to ask it that way,” he said. “What you’re really saying is, ‘you haven’t done that, what happened?’ And the answer is, and I said it at the time, I said, ‘listen, that is one opportunity to create revenue synergies, but arguably it’s not the best one because even mobile titles based on traditional core established IP can fail, and the biggest titles in mobile are of course native.’ “Now, what people are really saying, they didn’t say it this way, is, ‘why don’t you just do what Call of Duty Mobile did?’ But the answer is, Call of Duty is a superset, never mind a subset, a superset of one. Basically everything else has paled by comparison in our space.” Call of Duty Mobile was released in November 2019 and had been downloaded over 650 million times as May 2022, according to Activision Blizzard. “That said, I would love to be able to announce a successful mobile title based on legacy Take-Two IP, and I’m pretty sure we’ll be able to do it, but you’re right that it has been backburnered a bit in service of a bunch of other opportunities. Mobile accounted for over half of Take-Two’s full-year revenue and net bookings during the 12 months ended in March 2024. But Zelnick reiterated at this week’s TD Cowen conference that he still wants to make a hit mobile game based on one of the company’s own properties. “Would I like to do exactly what you said? Absolutely. Have we done it yet? We have not done it yet. Is it in our multi-year pipeline? It is in our pipeline, but that doesn’t mean it will succeed, it could fail, in which case it would be irrelevant. No, worse than irrelevant, it would actually cost us money because failures cost us money.” “But we have to try and we will try,” he added. In August last year, a 23-year-old walked into the AppWorks office and said he had only booked a one-way flight ticket from Manila. Crashing at the co-working space AppWorks offered at a very low cost for startup founders, Justin Gorriceta-Banusing had just parted ways with his previous startup, AcadArena, a venture-backed gaming community in the Philippines. We began to know Justin and witnessed how he started envisioning his new startup idea, now Clout Kitchen. Justin is young, but he’s had 9 years of entrepreneurial experience in the gaming industry. Likewise to his co-founder, who made his name a top eSport athlete during his teenage time. Marcel Feldkamp retired at age 21 and later on ran his own gaming talent agencies, one of which—Press X—had a great exit being acquired by the Hollywood-based United Talent Agency. These two gaming veterans, this time partnered with the youngest venture-backed founder in the Philippines, Gabriel Henry Lopez.  Clout Kitchen is seizing this right moment to be part of the next evolution in gaming: AI companionship. People used to rely on watching the best players on Twitch to learn and sharpen their skills. Now, the best players can impart their time-honoured knowledge and expertise to an AI model. We could say the last big disruption in gaming was Twitch, which made it possible to watch your favourite gamers play any game at almost any time. Now, AI companionship is taking it a step further—allowing you to actually play with your favourite gamer anytime. That’s why Clout Kitchen’s recent beta launch, Backseat AI, received great attention, earning 3 million views across multiple platforms.    In 2021 there was Axie Infinity built on blockchain from Vietnam, in 2024 we are excited to see Clout Kitchen powered with AI from the Philippines.
