Stop the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Youth Awareness Week is March 4 to 10, 2024 in B.C. This week recognizes the importance of supporting communities to develop prevention, education, enforcement, and intervention strategies to address the sexual exploitation of children and youth. On January 29th, the Intimate Images Protection Act (IIPA) came into effect. This legislation helps British Columbian’s who have had their intimate images shared or threated to be shared without their consent. Under this new legislation, the Civil Resolution Tribunal can now order a person, a social media company or website to stop distribution and remove an intimate image from its platform. The IIPA also provides recourse for minors to pursue legal action to stop the distribution of their private images on their own. For more information on the Intimate Images Protection Service, and exploitation resources, visit: https://lnkd.in/gXcKGEZD
