👓 Near or far: which is better? Terrain Intelligence allows us to select predictions based on time or distance. Why is this useful? 👇 👉 Reading the surface closer to the vehicle - what the vehicle is very likely to drive over - allows us to minimise compute load and maximise accuracy, making it easy to integrate Terrain Intelligence into today's production vehicles. This is also the range where a driver might see an obstacle but not be able to react in time, meaning Terrain Intelligence can dramatically improve safety, comfort and stability. 👉 Looking further ahead can enable route planning and other features. However, as this is more compute-intensive, it is more suited to purpose-built software-defined vehicles with a lot of spare computational capacity, such as the latest fully-autonomous vehicles. We've tested Terrain Intelligence in multiple vehicle forms, including motorcycles, side-by-sides, pick-up trucks, SUVs and even an armored truck.
