Misconception: “Mining, and in particular uranium mining, is an industry of the past”. ❌FALSE. As the world faces the climate change challenge, uranium mining is crucial in providing the raw material to produce nuclear energy, which is a recognized source of low carbon energy. To meet demand in the years to come, the uranium mining industry continues to evolve. The current technology is constantly being enhanced with automation, 3D modelling and data analytics, which helps improve the efficiency and safety of operations. Eager to further advance in the industry, Orano invests in research and development programs to develop alternative mining and exploration methods. Orano Canada is pleased to welcome Yann Baradello as the new General Manager at McClean Lake Operation (MLO). Yann comes to us with experience within Orano Mining, most recently as the General Manager of the Somair Mine and Mill operation in Niger, Africa. Prior to his time in Niger, Yann spent 5 years at Katco, the Orano mining site in Kazakhstan, as the Maintenance Manager. Between roles at Somair and Katco, Yann led the maintenance function for the mining group based out of the Paris office. Also pictured is former MLO General Manager, Dale Huffman, who will be continuing his role as Orano’s Vice President of Operations and Projects. Dale recently transferred the key to MLO to Yann, as is tradition when the General Manager role is passed on to new hands. This key has been passed from GM to GM since 1999, when the mill first began operations! . . . #Orano #OranoCanada #MineralExploration #Explore #Exploration #Uranium #NorthernSaskatchewan #Saskatchewan #McCleanLake #Mining #UraniumMining #MLO #GeneralManager #GM #ExploreSaskatchewan

Why SABRE Mining❔ Canada’s uranium deposits are high-grade, but deep and not easily accessible. SABRE mining is based on hydraulic borehole mining. This non-entry vertically selective approach to mining allows us to drill access holes from the surface and extract the underlying ore by cutting the ore using a high-pressure water jet. The slurry is then air-lifted to the surface. SABRE mining has safety, economic and environmental advantages, and we are so excited to resume SABRE mining activities at McClean Lake this year! Did you know that, despite concentrated powdered uranium obtained from leach solutions being bright yellow (hence the name “yellowcake”), uranium itself is a silvery-white metal❔ Learn more about uranium and what we do⤵️ https://lnkd.in/giUCrDJ6 . . . #Orano #OranoCanada #MineralExploration #Explore #Exploration #Yellowcake #Uranium #NorthernSaskatchewan #Saskatchewan #Mining #UraniumMining #ExploreSaskatchewan
