Aligning design with purpose. Sacramento County and its partners have officially broken ground on a large-scale campus that can serve the unhoused population with diverse offerings to help people in various stages of homelessness. The 13-acre property is repurposing an existing 130,000-square-foot warehouse and parking lot to create a unique opportunity that will provide both an emergency/weather respite center, as well as community-based supports including behavioral health, physical health, employment services and treatment services. The inclusion of Safe Stay modular cabins will provide shelter for individuals working towards permanent housing.
