Every year, twenty institutions of Curitiba, Brazil are selected and receive training and advisory services to expand their impact, sustainability and participation in society.     In 2011, the Founder Institute introduced Fellowships for the top female applicants to boost the number of women launching technology startups. This program led to an immediate 60%+ boost in women-founded portfolio companies, but leveled off in the following years.

    The Female Founder Initiative was formed in 2016 to create more opportunities for women to build successful companies through the Founder Institute’s global pre-seed accelerator program. We created the initiative with the…

    In 2011, the Founder Institute introduced Fellowships for the top female applicants to boost the number of women launching technology startups. This program led to an immediate 60%+ boost in women-founded portfolio companies, but leveled off in the following years.

    The Female Founder Initiative was formed in 2016 to create more opportunities for women to build successful companies through the Founder Institute’s global pre-seed accelerator program. We created the initiative with the overarching goal of leveraging the Founder Institute’s scope (180+ cities, 65+ countries) to make the global technology sector more gender-balanced.

    Each year of the initiative we have increased the number of women-founded portfolio companies created through the Founder Institute. We believe we can make a lasting impact on gender balance in the technology sector if 40% of our portfolio companies produced in 2020 are founded by women.

    The purpose of the Female Founder Initiative is to help women around the world start, build, and fund their startup companies.
