UIA facilitates awareness of the work of international associations through research and documentation

About us

Union of International Associations is a Brussels-based nonprofit research institute documenting the international community of INGOs and IGOs for over 100 years. Founded by Henri La Fontaine (Nobel Peace Prize laureate of 1913), and father of information science Paul Otlet. Non-profit, apolitical, independent, and non-governmental in nature, the UIA has been a pioneer in the research, monitoring and provision of information on international organizations, international associations and their global challenges since 1907. Publicly the UIA is best known for its Associations Round Table meetings and publications: Yearbook of International Organizations; the Encyclopedia of World Problems and Human Potential; the International Congress Calendar; and its journal Transnational Associations.
