AI FIRST MINDSET Earlier in the evening, I was chatting with my ex-colleague, who is now a good friend and holds a senior corporate position in one of the major Australian banks, the conversation was about what it means to have an AI-first mindset. English is my second language, and I live in a country where it's the main, if not the only, language spoken and written. For one Persona of myself an AI First means an English assistant who can remove the language distraction and allows me focus on what I am best at :). It's an oversimplification, but it's still a relevant use case. The critical point I am raising here is that we need to understand what AI tools are available for us to use. There can be a slight learning curve, but it's worth it. Let me clarify my previous statement. The 'AI-First Mindset' is not just a choice; it's a necessity in the new era that has already begun. I strongly recommend that you read 'CO-INTELLIGENCE ', Living and Working with AI by ETHAN MOLLIK. AI has already created a profound set of changes in terms of how we think about the world; it is tough to differentiate what's AI created, and otherwise, the line is blurring already. We certainly are on the cusp of a significant technology shift enabled by AI. To me, an AI-first mindset means getting up every morning with a few key asks and promises, which is: + I will use AI tools in my daily work + I will learn about a new AI tool or at least a new use case to aid my work + Probe myself for if I am progressing in my AI mindset or am I in a illusion. In a nutshell, I want to feel what AI means in the real world and keep testing how it can enable me to be good in my weak areas and accelerate in what I am good at. By starting this way, I hope at some stage, I will move from user to creator. Prompting is at the centre of how I use AI on a daily basis. I am amazed and by the persona-based context setting and probing AI that enable me to go deeper into the sphere of knowledge. Feel free to chime in your "AI First" mindset and habit....

For me, it’s hard to put a number on what real time means. My approach to RTIM is that what can be considered an acceptable latency vary with the situation. For example, applikations for stock trading demand low latency. The lower the better. However for an application to calculate quotes to offer a customer, the latency is not as crucial. Cutting milliseconds is expensive. If you ask a track and field sprinter, whose main job is to chase milliseconds, I think every millisecond becomes harder and harder and cost more to achieve. The same goes for latency in tech. But is it worth it? Maybe! Every situation must be individually evaluated. The business case must balance lots of perspectives and even then the reality and complexity will hit you in the stomach and you must refactor things.
