For the last 5 years Support Coordination pricing has been frozen, risking the closure of essential services and leaving participants at risk. It's time for this to change. There are many resources that can help you find grants. These include: - Australian Government's GrantConnect - State Government grant databases - Local Council and regional initiative websites - Funder websites, newsletters and social media - Subscription-based services (e.g. The Grants Hub, GEMS, The Funding Centre, GrantGuru). Want to get the best value for your needs? I'm happy to share what I've learned over the years and feedback we've heard from others. Whichever methods you use, you also need a strategy to be proactive and assess grants effectively. Getting a bunch of daily updates is pointless unless you have an actionable plan for filtering opportunities and prioritising resources. We put everything on hold to avoid more debt being accrued and at the appropriate time, help them negotiate and pay back all debts using their own finances to become 100% debt free. We get residents off social welfare within 3 months and back into part-time employment, helping them earn their own income, pay for their own rehabilitation and start saving. We empower our residents to train, upskill and move from part time to full time employment by the time they graduate from our Program. We are a 100% self funded organisation that receives no government funding nor do we apply for grants. As with all types of domestic and family violence, abuse of family pets (or any animals for that matter) should attract zero tolerance. Threats to and actual harm to pets are both a tactic of perpetrators and an indicator of serious harm up to and including risk of lethality. This infographic highlights the complexity of this issue and the importance of having accessible services in regional Queensland for animals in crisis.

Aboriginal Cultural decision making processes must be respected. There are two ways for decisions to be made: 1. Consensus among the families. Family Authorities have the right to represent their families. 2. Cultural Authority decision making. Select Elders or Cultural Authorities decide on behalf of everyone. The Contemporary Mainstream Western decision making process that is preferred by Government and Mining and divides families is: Vote. Majority wins. That is not our way. Aboriginal specific decisions must be made under Aboriginal cultural rules.

As the Lower House prepares to debate and vote on the NDIS Bill, before the remaining submissions to the Community Affairs Legislation Committee are even published, I can’t stop thinking about these parts of our submission. About everything – and everyone – that is really at stake here. That rushing is a recipe for both human and budget disaster, because we cannot achieve a sustainable NDIS if the Government does not listen to us when we say this will not work. That there is still time to show the humility and reflection we talk about in our submission. That lived experience is key to writing the amendments we need to unlock the outcomes the NDIS asked us to dream of. “The fact we are having trouble articulating our insights around the type of co-design we need into a framework that can be digested into a bureaucratic enough form to insert into legislation is part of the problem: This is, first and foremost, an ethics and human rights problem. It is a problem rooted in the Government being unwilling to share power with people with disability, and unwilling to acknowledge both the value of our lived experience and our capacity to take part in the drafting of legislation that impacts the most intimate parts of our daily lives. The Government would rather try to digest their view of how our daily lives should look into bureaucratic rules on their own, than listen to us about how it will impact our daily lives and their bottom line. The irony is that this Bill misses the mark by so much that it will likely cost Australia a great deal more in the coming decades, as a result of unmet needs...” “We believe that, at the heart of this discussion, this is the difference between the current NDIS Act and its intention, and the proposed legislative changes: The Bill that was tabled lacks the humanity of the original social model perspective and the ethical, compassionate approach to co-design that comes naturally to people like Uli who have lived it. And we cannot make the NDIS work without it. Genuine co-design would have found a way to make this perspective part of the fabric of the NDIS, and we cannot move forward without a legislated commitment to doing this most important part of the work... That commitment must begin with recognising the capacity of people with disability to lead this work and do it well, because the Government cannot do it well without us... Thank you to the thousands of participants and supporters who help us turn dreams into reality for over 2,000 New Zealand Community Service Card holders. Together, we have: ·      Supported over 97% of participants who found The Generator useful and respectful of their culture. ·      Funded $3.75 million in seed funding and mentorship. ·      Impacted micro-enterprises (51% Māori, 34% Pasifika), with over 80% reporting positive impacts and 70% achieving increased financial wellbeing. ·      Enabled sustainable income, with 93% still managing their enterprise and only 2% stopping in the first year. The Generator has contributed to at least $16 million savings to the government. How? ·      Funded approximately 2,000 applicants to date, with about 20 new applicants each week. ·      As of July 2024, 93% of participants actively manage their businesses, and 32% (around 667 of the 2,000 funded) have transitioned off or reduced their benefits. This results in a savings of at least $16,675,000 to government (667 x $25,000 per year in Job Seeker benefits, excluding other allowances). ·      Additionally, 15% are on hold due to health or family reasons, and only a total of 3% have stopped their enterprise. Tanya Quinn is a disability advocate, business woman and community builder. She is challenging Chris Bowen, Minister for Climate Change and Energy, in the seat of McMahon in Sydney's west. #ChrisBowen is the face of modern Labor. He has never held a #real job outside politics in his life. After university he was a #staffer for two Labor politicians, and an official for the #FinanceSector Union. He married an official of the #Electrical Trades Union - they met, of course, in the Party. Then he became a politician. That is the #sumtotal of his work and life experience. #TanyaQuinn is a dedicated single mother, living in Oatlands with her teenage daughter. She grew up in Macquarie Fields in public housing, and went to #Liverpool Girls High School. She started work as a support worker in aged care and disability services, where her passion for care and advocacy led her to become CEO of two prominent disability providers. Tanya blew the #whistle on fraudulent conduct in NDIS by operators who had no legitimate background in disability services. She took significant personal risk in supplying evidence of corruption to NDIS, but despite this, the individuals concerned continue to operate in NDIS with #minimal repercussions. This experience led Tanya to #start her own venture. She launched a smaller, community-focused service where #quality and genuine #relationships are at the forefront. Now, as a business owner, she focuses on #housingsolutions for people with disabilities across Sydney and the Hunter Region. With an unwavering commitment to #empowering others, she is a powerhouse in her field, always ready to tackle new challenges and champion those most in need. ___ #McMahon is based on #Holroyd and #Fairfield. #Reconciliation Every workplace/ sector/ industry must respond to the truth that Aboriginal people were excluded from joining them for at least 100 years. This is why Aboriginal specific programs and initiatives are needed and supported. The first mainstream employment opportunities offered by Government to my Community was the 1980s. Education. Health. Police. No mining opportunities until the 1990s. Some industries were built by Aboriginal peoples slave labour such as the pastoral industry. This must be reconciled by way of returning pastoral land to Aboriginal people.

“Behind Closed Doors," a project aimed at empowering change in FDV prevention & response, has officially launched after months of hard work. This initiative bridges the gap between primary prevention and early intervention, thanks to a partnership between DART Institute Australia Inc and The Experience Lab forged together through the passion of Ashley McGrath from CEOs for Gender Equity The project has already garnered phenomenal feedback, with audience members eager to drive change in their workplaces. Through engaging sessions, participants interact with the script, engage in moving interviews, and work with an FDV specialist facilitator to enhance their learning journey. Key outcomes include increased confidence in recognising and responding to family violence, understanding various types of FDV, trauma awareness, and recognizing gendered drivers of FDV. This project emphasises the importance of partnerships and collaborations in allied sectors and corporate organisations to make a meaningful impact and close existing gaps.
