[My take on Matrice 4T/E] Cons: Lack of IP rating. Some users doing SAR need this and there will be lost sales. Decision not to include IP rating will hound Matrice 4 for a long time. Lack of obstacle avoidance LiDAR. Unable to do DAA at night limits some BVLOS applications. It currently has low light visual sensors but I suspect it will not be good enough to avoid powerlines etc. Pros Improve flight time while keeping physical size small improve camera specs Night scene mode with NIR spotlight built in D-RTK 3 Relay mode. Useful when you need to fly around tall structures. (D-RTK 3 deserves a post by itself) High-Res thermal mode (like Flir MSX mode) Smart 3D Capture. Auto route generation of a structure. I suspect this will be used more often for inspection of tall structures then to generate 3D models. Conclusion: DJI basically shrunk the M30 series and took away the IP rating.

As the name might suggest, mappd has a wide range of expertise in survey and mapping projects! The video below shows clear skies and great conditions for a UAV LiDAR survey that was undertaken recently for one of our clients, as part of an ongoing project involving precise GNSS monitoring and now UAV mapping and topographical survey. For this particular project, a relatively low flight altitude was used to provide the best possible chance of LiDAR penetration through vegetation and thick grass. Mappd utilised a range of point cloud filtering algorithms on the captured data to produce a detailed ‘ground’ model. Conventional GNSS survey was used to capture a range of site features and ground cells for quality reporting measures, giving the client and end-users of the data maximum confidence in accuracy levels achieved. As always a detailed survey report was provided alongside the various data formats, giving a clear understanding of what processes were in place to get to the end result, allowing for repeatable surveys in the future and comparison of apples with apples (or in this case dirt with dirt!)
