📢📢 Major Updates to Australian Visas - Starting late 2024   🔍 482 Visa Work Experience Requirement Reduced   - New Requirement: Work experience requirement for the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) 482 visa reduced from two years to one year. - Impact: This change applies to both Short-term and Medium-term streams making it easier for international graduates and skilled workers to qualify, facilitating quicker access to the Australian workforce.   🌏 Closure of the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP)   - Effective Date: No new applications accepted after November 23, 2024. - Details: The closure follows a Productivity Commission report criticizing the program's economic impact. Great to see Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA)'s latest Australian Video #Games Industry #Policy Platform released. I think Secret Lab Pty. Ltd. is the sole #Tasmanian IGEA member? Though we know firsthand the vibrant game development ecosystem is flourishing in our state. The successful Level Up Tasmania (https://lnkd.in/gusuy62v) event earlier this year showcased the incredible talent and creativity emerging from our island.... The IGEA policy document presents an ambitious but achievable vision: reaching $1 billion in annual revenue by 2030, with 10,000 full-time game development workers across major hubs in capital cities. Most crucially, it outlines practical steps to get there through strategic government support, talent development, and regulatory frameworks. It's especially important, to me, to build sustainable regional development hubs beyond the major capitals... Today marks my 9th work anniversary since joining EA and it was an edifying journey of learning and self-believe. I look at anniversaries as a time stamp to reflect on the past learnings and look forward to the exciting future. My career is a narrative of mistakes, learning, and redemption. Back in 2004, fresh out of college, I possessed knowledge but lacked direction on how to kickstart my career. However, I was resolute. I wouldn’t settle for a conventional path. Instead, I embraced the road less travelled because I loved experimentation, above all I craved for the freedom to explore, experiment, and be my authentic self while pursuing my career. This led me to choose an unconventional career path, DJing. I was persistent and pursued DJing as a career, found an in-house DJ and convinced him to teach me. Eventually, I became so good at it that I was drafted as the in-house DJ for one of the top pubs in Hyderabad at that time “Bottles & Chimneys” After four years, I realised I had reached the pinnacle of my DJing career. However, factors like odd working hours and passive smoking began affecting my health, prompting me to seek new horizons. That’s when inspiration struck, I decided to start my own business, I envisioned something different, something creative. In 2009, I opened a restaurant on Eat Street Necklace Road, exclusively serving egg dishes. For two years, it thrived until a rift with my then partner led to its closure. Once again, I found myself in uncharted territory. This time, I opted for a slower pace. I purchased a DSLR camera and delved into photography as an hobby and therapeutic outlet. Awards and accolades poured in, and I spent four years as a fashion photographer, collaborating with renowned designers and gracing magazine spreads. Yet, photography’s demand fluctuated, high during weddings and fall on other days. Marriage prompted a change. Seeking stability, I transitioned to the gaming industry. As an avid gamer since childhood, this trajectory felt right. I have no regrets in my career as I learned people skills when I was working as a DJ, I learned management skills as an entrepreneur, I learned marketing skills as a photographer. Combining all these experiences, I was able to utilise them in my present career and grow up the ladder to be a manager when Electronic Arts gave me an opportunity to redeem myself. I want to conclude that the purpose of life is to continuously evolve, make mistakes, learn, move forward and with the notion that it’s never too late to restart. #WorkAnniversary #GrowthMindset #Thankful #EA #Gaming #EAHYD #weareea

The rise of 'death tech' is transforming the way we approach the inevitable.
