Long term financial benefits 🤝 sustainable solutions Port Authority of NSW have installed it's first solar panel system at the Newcastle Port Centre, which will not only reduce use of grid electricity, hitting sustainability goals on their journey to being Net Zero by 2040, but is also estimated to save $170,000 throughout the life of the system (roughly $9000 per year!). OZTRALIA FACES ENGINEERING SKILLS CRISIS BY 2040 An independent report commissioned by Professionals Australia projects a significant skills shortage of 200,000 engineers by 2040. This shortfall threatens to undermine essential engineering projects and economic growth unless both industry and government take urgent action to expand the engineering skills base and workforce in Australia. Shortages due to declining university enrolments, infrastructure stimulus demands, pandemic-related border closures, and the national energy transition have exacerbated the current crisis. This situation persists despite a current national shortage of around 40,000 engineers, projected to escalate to 100,000 by 2030 and 200,000 by 2040. "... So, why aren’t we filling the Engineering void? If we don't increase the number of engineers in OZtralia, it will definitely impact productivity and affect the OZtralian economy. Major projects will cost more, and will also take longer to finish..." remarked Wee-Oon CEO of OZemployment.com.au "... We just don't have enough engineers to go around to complete these projects. Just look at the state of Victoria (OZtralia), where infrastructure projects are constantly delayed and have got out of control, costing Victorian tax payers billions..."
