I had an interesting discussion with a client this week regarding hiring new employees in the month of December. We both agreed that most people will tell you that 'December is slow' and 'no one does any hiring till after Australia Day'. However, we both disagreed, and this is why we believe hiring a new employee or starting a new role in December is a great idea - **Benefits to organisations** 🌐 It allows companies to start the new year with a fully staffed team and also helps minimise hiring distractions in the new year. 🌐 It helps getting prepared for upcoming projects kicking off early in the new year to ensure there is a balance between 'BAU' and Projects. 🌐 December hiring can provide a smoother transition with regards to team bonding and culture, as new employees can be part of year-end events, including the workplace Christmas function! 🌐 Less competition in the market to attract talent, due to the fact that many hiring managers are away on holidays or not running a recruitment process. **Benefits to Candidates** 🛄 Starting in December can be a great opportunity to hit the ground running, with fewer distractions and a quieter time in the office 🛄 A more focused onboarding and quick integration with team and culture alignment, also joining in on end of year celebrations and festivities! 🛄 This timing also positions candidates to start the new year already settled in their roles, setting them up for success. 🛄 Less competition in the market, as there are fewer candidates updating their profiles and looking to make a move. Please comment below if you have any other benefits or thoughts to add here. We have been really busy this quarter and keen to hear how you are finding the recruitment process this time of year! As we step into 2025, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible journey of supporting businesses and candidates through the ever-changing tides of the job market. Recruitment isn’t just about filling roles – it’s about changing lives, building teams, and enabling growth. 2024 threw us some curveballs, like a tighter job market, shifting priorities, and a lot of caffeine-fueled problem-solving! Yet, through it all, I’ve been reminded of the power of resilience, relationships, and results. 💡 For my clients: Thank you for trusting me to find the right talent for your teams. Whether it's been tackling tricky roles or finding unicorn candidates, your belief in Align Recruitment has made all the difference. 💡 For my candidates: You inspire me with your drive and determination. Helping you take the next step in your career journey is a privilege I don’t take lightly. As we embrace 2025, I’m looking forward to: ✅ Supporting more businesses in building the dream teams they need. ✅ Continuing to grow my professional network ✅ Helping professionals find roles that excite and empower them. ✅ Tackling challenges head-on and finding new ways to innovate in recruitment. If you’re facing hiring challenges, planning your next career move, or just want to chat about the evolving job market, my inbox is always open. Let's connect, collaborate, and make 2025 a year of great opportunities and growth. Here’s to another year of making a difference together! 🎉 #Recruitment #TalentAcquisition #Growth2025 #AlignRecruitment #OpportunitiesAhead

The latest SEEK Employment Dashboard for April 2024 reveals statistics that shed light on Australia's dynamic job market. According to the report: Job Opportunities: April witnessed an 18.6% decline in job ads nationwide compared to last indicating a tight market. However, this decline has started to ease as we transition into May with organisations adapting to market shifts and competition. This is encouraging news for my HR network! Stay optimistic as we are witnessing positive changes, especially for those in the Senior HR roles! 🌟 These insights are great for refining talent acquisition strategies and staying ahead in a competitive job market. #HRinsights #talentacquisition #jobmarkettrends #HRleaders #SEEKAustralia #millerleith

"What's their stance on Work-Life Balance" is a question I'm always getting asked from candidates looking at making a move. It's pleasing to see that the Industry is keeping up with changing times. The Construction Industry reported that hybrid working as having the most positive effect on productivity at 50%, according to our 2024 PACE Report. Are interviews only a method to qualify candidates? How serious should you take interviews as a company? Interviews are the first glance that a candidate has on your team, culture and company goals - Candidates get a picture on what it would be like to work with you and how the team interacts with each other. Are you clear on your questions? Do you let the candidate speak? Do you know what your team needs help with? Do you create a conversation space or just shoot one question after another across the room? - Interviews are an opportunity for people to get a feeling on the team atmosphere and how the situation is, are people looking happy, are they engaged? Are they nice to talk to? Do they seem interested on what they do? And let’s not forget about all that happens after an interview, including speed on giving feedback and the quality of that feedback. If your team doesn’t have experience taking interviews or needs help, reach out to me. Follow for more tips & content

Morning😊 🌟 Last week I conducted a poll on what Drives Professionals to Relocate for Career Opportunities? Poll Result Insights below from 93 responses: 🌟 🔍 Key Findings: 🟢Lifestyle Changes Leads the Way: 35% of respondents prioritise lifestyle changes when considering a career move interstate in Australia. Work-life balance and overall well-being was the most important factor in their decision. 🟢Focus on Career Growth: 28% value career growth opportunities as a crucial factor in their decision-making process. Professional development, Advancement potential & Learning opportunities are prioritised when deciding to move. 🟢Cost of Living Considerations: 20% emphasise the importance of cost of living in their relocation decisions. 🟢Salary & Benefits Impact: 16% prioritise salary & benefits when contemplating a career move. While compensation is still a consideration, it appears to be less prominent compared to lifestyle changes, career growth opportunities & cost of living. 🚀 Understanding that Lifestyle changes & career growth opportunities are top priorities for professionals looking to relocate, can help organisations tailor relocation packages to attract & retain talent effectively. Seemingly essential to consider not only financial aspects but also work-life balance & development opportunities to meet the diverse needs of potential candidates. 💬 Are there any other factors you consider most important when relocating for career opportunities? Last week, the largest employer in the southern hemisphere, the New South Wales government, issued a directive to public sector workers: 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. In other words, working from home is no longer an option! Here's a little role play to brighten up your Monday: 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿: We're conducting a WFH survey to gauge how everyone feels about coming back to the office. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀: Oh, great... 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿: First question — what’s one thing you’ve enjoyed while working from home? 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀: No one could hear me yell obscenities when I got your email about this survey. #Recruitment #HiringNow #WFH #Surveys

Unbundled Services to make Recruitment easier 👋 Wellington's employment market is going through a tough time at the moment.. at Madison, we understand the strain this puts on both job seekers and hiring managers. Whilst 44% of professionals have started their job in the last year, nearly half of them have also started in a new industry. On top of that, there’s a staggering 55% drop in job listings on Seek! It's an uncertain time for many, as unemployment rates are rising. As a result, we've observed that certain advertised roles are flooded with applications, making the hiring process a time-consuming challenge for many. For instance, effective communication with candidates not selected is crucial to uphold your company's reputation — a lesson we value deeply. In response to this market, I want to remind all of you about our unbundled recruitment services designed to streamline your hiring process without compromising on quality. Whether you opt for our long listing with phone screens service or require a more comprehensive approach with internal interviews and shortlist recommendations, we're here to lighten the load. Unbundled Recruitment Services ⬇ Application Review & CV Screening: Comprehensive review of all received applications. Phone Interviews: Initial screenings to assess candidate suitability. Longlisting: Identify 6 to 8 top candidates who meet your criteria. Shortlist Preparation: Recommend a select group of candidates for your consideration. Internal Interviews: Conduct in-depth assessments with longlisted candidates. Interview Coordination: Manage scheduling and logistics for seamless hiring. Our collaboration with top agencies is a testament to our efficiency and expertise, ensuring you snag the perfect fit without the usual hiring headaches. Let's conquer these challenging times together. 💪 https://lnkd.in/gBtZHTnk

Interesting stat: 38% of Aussie workers are planning to switch jobs in the next 12 months. As someone who speaks to job seekers every day, this got me thinking about what this means for our industry. Normally the issues are easily fixed... but are managers addressing potential turnover? Some food for thought: • People prioritise culture, wellbeing support, and flexibility post-COVID • Gen Z is all about that work-life balance • Gen X values great co-workers • Colleagues are more open about pay and have more resources to see the market rates What matters most to you in your role? What changes would you like to see across the board?

Two weeks ago I asked Hiring managers, HR & TA teams of Australia what their hiring activity/plans are as we see out 2024. Options were: 🚀 Doubling down on recruitment efforts in November and December in order to hit the ground running in 2025? ✋️ Holding off until the new year due to concerns about economic uncertainty? 🤔 In two minds ⛔️ In the midst of recruitment freeze, so who knows!? And it's great to see that the majority are still recruiting. This is further evidence that next year will be a year of confidence and growth across multiple sectors 🌱 📈 #recruitment #business #growth

The “career progression discussion” needs to be had with an employer prior to searching for a new role. It’s so often just a complete lack of communication within a business. Do employers know who in their team are wanting to develop? “Career progression” doesn’t necessarily mean a promotion or senior role. Training, upskilling, participating in other areas of the business - perhaps events, marketing, a team project. It’s staggering how businesses don’t invest in sales training for their teams. It should be implemented every 6 months. A refresher, boost that realigns the companies message to the market. 📊 HR Opportunities in Sydney: When’s the Best Time to Job Hunt? Thinking of moving to Sydney on a Working Holiday Visa (WHV) and keen to land an opportunities in the HR space? This year I tracked HR job advertisements on seek within a 50km radius of Sydney from March through November. While it’s only one year of data, some clear trends emerged that might help you plan your job search. 📈 Key Insight: The number of HR roles advertised peaked between May and August, indicating a possible seasonal hiring trend in Sydney’s HR market. If you’re planning to relocate, targeting your job search around this period could improve your chances of landing a role. What This Means for WHV Job Seekers: ⏰ Timing Matters: Arriving in Sydney before May could give you a head start as the job market ramps up. 💻 Be Prepared: Make sure your CV and LinkedIn profile are updated and tailored for the Australian market. 🌏 Stay Open: While May to August showed the highest activity, opportunities pop up year-round—especially for those ready to hit the ground running. Have you noticed similar patterns in your job search or hiring experience in Sydney’s HR market? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Stay tuned for next years update! #HRJobs #SydneyJobMarket #WorkingHolidayVisa #HRopportunities #HRRecruitment #CareerInsights Please note all data points were taken from seek.

Why Australian Recruitment Agencies Are Hiring British/Irish Recruiters I’ve had so many recruiters asking me lately why Australian agencies are looking to hire recruiters from the UK and Ireland. Having been in this space for over 8 years, and well-connected with local agencies across Australia, I’ve seen this trend grow, and here’s why it’s happening: ✅ Sales-Driven Culture: The UK and Ireland are known for competitive, sales-focused recruitment environments. Australian agencies value this mindset because it aligns with their growth strategies and client demands. ✅ Global Experience: Recruiters from the UK and Ireland often bring international experience, having worked across multiple markets. This global perspective is a huge asset, especially as Australia’s talent market becomes more connected to global trends. ✅ UK and Irish recruiters bring a fresh perspective and a deep understanding of building strong candidate pipelines in candidate-short markets. ✅ Cultural Fit & Expat Community: With a large expat community already in Australia, recruiters from the UK and Ireland often find the cultural transition smooth. The similarities in work culture, alongside a network of fellow expats, make settling in easier and quicker. With demand soaring, now is the perfect time for UK and Irish recruiters to explore opportunities down under. I have some amazing opportunities across Australia for 360 recruiters, so if you're planning to relocate this or next year, reach out to me—I’d love to have a chat! #Recruitment #BritishRecruiters #IrishRecruiters #AustraliaJobs #ExpatLife #rec2rec #r2r
