The Master of Development Studies offers Graduates an opportunity to understand the challenges of sustainable human development on a local, national and global scale. It provides theoretical foundations and opportunities for practice-based understanding of development policy, programs and outcomes.

It provides theoretical foundations and opportunities for practice-based understanding of development policy, programs and outcomes.
It was an excellent opportunity to build on my research and writing skills. The Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association (SUPRA) offered me a platform to practice the community organising and development I learnt in the classroom on a local (campus) level.
Following my interest in social justice, policy and women's rights, my dissertation topic was: Achieving Gender Equality in a Religious Nation-State - A Case Study of Pakistan. -

Fortnightly community visit to the Villawood Detention Centre, Sydney. Accompanied a volunteer group that offered moral support, healthy food and a social setting to the refugees and asylum seekers in the Centre. The group would also assist them with any concerns they may have with regards to their current refugee status or conditions in detention.

On the heels of the 9th Annual Dell Women’s Entrepreneur Summit (DWEN), Dell Technologies hosted an interactive PolicyHack to develop solutions on ways Sydney can continue to attract high-potential women entrepreneurs. Partnered with Pivotal Labs and the Spark Festival, this was the first ever Dell PolicyHack held in Australia.
The winning team was given this problem: Describe a solution that public and private sector leaders can employ to improve access to capital to encourage women to…On the heels of the 9th Annual Dell Women’s Entrepreneur Summit (DWEN), Dell Technologies hosted an interactive PolicyHack to develop solutions on ways Sydney can continue to attract high-potential women entrepreneurs. Partnered with Pivotal Labs and the Spark Festival, this was the first ever Dell PolicyHack held in Australia.
The winning team was given this problem: Describe a solution that public and private sector leaders can employ to improve access to capital to encourage women to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities?
The team identified that unconscious bias played a major role in preventing female entrepreneurs from receiving funding. Their solution detailed an anonymised pitching process for venture capitalists to remove this barrier. The team will continue to work alongside Dell to develop this pitch and apply it to real life businesses. -
