What’s the most impactful investment you can make today? Buy some Woolworths and Coles shares and join the Save the Skate campaign. The big supermarkets have been telling us very directly - they’re meeting with us only because we’re shareholders, and they don’t appreciate us bringing our campaign partners in to the boardroom. It’s very early validation for why we created SIX: big companies only want to hear from one stakeholder - their shareholders. So lets all become shareholders and bash down those boardroom doors. We need Woolies and Coles shareholders to support our shareholder resolutions to try to save the Skate. There’s a link in the comments for how to support the campaign with your existing shares. I listen to a lot of podcasts. Quite a few are produced by the Mamamia network (Australia's #1 women's media brand. Established 2007 now with, I don't know a 7 million? strong, deeply committed audience. Haven't heard of them? Shame on you if you work in social/media or media adjacent - but I digress). One I listened to on my commute home last night had me transfixed. It was called 'When sleep isn't enough: The seven types of rest' (No Filter podcast) - and was and interview with Dr Saundra Dalton-Smith on why sleep is not enough, why sleep and rest are two different things - and how you can break it down and work through what kinds of rest you need - in particular to help prevent burnout (or help deal with it) and how you can get the energy to get back to it. The conversation on why wfh can still be exhausting was incredibly enlightening. There's a free quiz. I recommend it.

Logically speaking, within a hyper price sensitive home loan market, the most effective way to make your product competitive quickly is to cut out the middleman and pass on some of the savings to customers. Coles Group is now the second company in the world to receive a shareholder resolution to stop an extinction. Once again, I really didn’t think we’d have to submit shareholder resolutions to Save the Skate. Of all the campaigns we launched SIX with, this was the one where I definitely thought we’d negotiate a good outcome without needing a shareholder vote. Instead, the supermarkets have chosen to risk attachment to an extinction instead of changing where they source just a small part of their salmon supply. But credit to Coles, they’ve at least publicly acknowledged the impact of their salmon sourcing on the Maugean skate and are starting to move away from Macquarie Harbour - just at no where near the urgency needed. If you were to read the Woolworths Group sustainability report, on the other hand, you will find zero mentions of the imminent extinction of the Maugean skate. Not even after years of stakeholder pressure, and shareholders openly pushing for them to stop buying Macquarie Harbour salmon. Sustainable Investment Exchange #SaveTheSkate
