You're looking to take your business to the next level. What financial modeling tools should you be using?
When it comes to financial modelling, always keep it simple, except for when it comes to modelling your cap table. In that case, I think it's well worth investing in a platform like CAKE equity to do the complicated calculations for you

You're looking to take your business to the next level. What financial modeling tools should you be using?
I'm a big fan of KISS principle when it comes to business intelligence for your financial model. Both Excel and google sheets have incredible functionality these days to build graphs and figures to convey your financial story. Keep it simple and skip the complicated Tableau or PowerBI - we aren't working with big data here (yet!)

You're looking to take your business to the next level. What financial modeling tools should you be using?
If you are just starting out on your journey, ditch the financial modelling software. As a startup, you need to explain both inputs and outputs in a financial model, and this can be hard to understand if you're using off-the-shelf software. Save yourself the time, stick to good old Excel or google sheets.

You're looking to take your business to the next level. What financial modeling tools should you be using?
There are templates galore out there for startups at the beginning of their financial modelling journey but to truly understand and communicate your story through numbers, it's best to start from a blank spreadsheet in my opinion. Start with your pricing model, think about how you will acquire customers and what the numbers look like, and then cost our your expenses. If you have an accounting software set up, export expenses and income from there as a starting point. Start simple and build from there.
