“I enjoyed working with Andrew as a senior colleague over four years to late 2011. He is an excellent strategic thinker across both his subject matter and organisational issues. He can, and did, translate strategy to action and enrolled and led his staff to deliver positive outcomes. I particularly valued his collegiate approach to organisational development issues, his willingness to act as a sounding board and critical friend and to 'walk the walk' on change management interventions. In summary, Andrew made a significant contribution to the organisation in my view.”

In late 2014 I signed up for the ride of my life in 2015. 1600 kms riding from Brisbane to Townsville – known as the Smiddy Challenge. This would be a challenge for me without a doubt. Eight days riding about 200 kms a day, stops at schools, enjoying the support of local communities and raising funds for cancer research. I had never done anything like this before.

This would be a challenge for me without a doubt. Eight days riding about 200 kms a day, stops at schools, enjoying the support of local communities and raising funds for cancer research. I had never done anything like this before.
In 2017 Smiling for Smiddy offered the first reverse challenge – a ride from Townsville to Brisbane. I had to do this and arrive in my hometown of Brisbane. I was part of a 50 deep peloton peddling more than 1,600 kms from Townsville to Brisbane in eight days
Why I took on this challenge? To raise much-needed funds for cancer research at Mater Foundation and to give back.
As part of the Smiddy Challenge peloton, I utilised my passion for cycling to raise funds and raise awareness to help fight this devastating disease.
But much like any #SmilingforSmiddy event, it’s a long, hard road to fight cancer and Mater Foundation would love your help.
Every day in Queensland, around 70 people and their families are blindsided by a cancer diagnosis.
That’s almost three people who will hear the words “you have cancer” in the next hour.
Significant investment in life-saving cancer research is an important part of changing these statistics. Of course, lifestyle choices and ‘Slip, slop and slap’ is still key to reducing skin cancer in Australia.
You can help me raise funds for cancer research at Mater by making a secure online donation to our fundraising page https://www.smiddy.org.au/page/donate/
