Great news. Kōura Wealth have confirmed they are sticking to being Bitcoin-only with their Kiwisaver fund and renaming it as such. "As a result, we have now made the decision that we will not be looking to invest in alternative cryptocurrency assets and therefore it is appropriate to rename this as the Kōura Bitcoin Fund. Small and medium-sized businesses make up 97% of Australia’s 2.6 million businesses. Despite this, the lending landscape is often unfavourable to them which has contributed to a lack of financial inclusion. Why is this the case? We’ve seen that difficulty in accessing data, or a lack of it, means banks and lenders have difficulty lending to customers where they have minimal credit history. Just yesterday we saw data highlighted by The Australian Financial Review that stated AI could boost our economy by $200 billion and create over 150,000 jobs. Increasing credit inclusion will be an important step in supporting this and it is one of the reasons why we started Rich Data Co over 8 years ago as we saw there was a clear opportunity for artificial intelligence in this industry. Our AI decisioning platform at RDC is helping small and medium sized businesses access finance by providing financial institutions with enhanced data, and greater insights around the risks associated with lending. Bridgit secures a $14.2 million Series A to reshape the home lending market Sydney-based #fintech company #Bridgit, formerly known as TechLend, has successfully raised $14.2 million in a Series A funding round. This latest investment will help Bridgit expand its innovative home lending services, offering bridging loans to homeowners looking to move houses. Founded in 2021, Bridgit aims to simplify the home buying process by providing short-term bridging loans. These loans allow homeowners to purchase a new house before selling their current one, addressing a significant need in the real estate market. The Series A round was led by existing investor IOF, showcasing continued confidence in Bridgit’s business model and growth potential. Bridgit had previously raised $7.5 million in a round co-led by OIF Ventures and Perennial Partners two years ago. Bridgit targets homeowners, particularly older generations looking to downsize, who can benefit from recent changes to superannuation rules. These rules allow individuals over 55 to sell their property and contribute up to $300,000 from the proceeds to their superannuation fund. Bridgit offers loans ranging from $300,000 to $4 million, with interest rates just under 10% and a 1% establishment fee. Loans are approved within a day, often in less than an hour, and can cover up to 80% of the property’s value. Currently, Bridgit writes around $600 million in lending annually, with typical loans averaging $1 million and repaid within four months. Bridgit’s innovative approach addresses a critical pain point in the real estate market, providing quick and flexible financing solutions for homeowners. This service is particularly beneficial for the Boomer generation looking to downsize, offering them a hassle-free way to transition to a new home. REA Group Announces Stellar Q3 Performance REA Group Ltd (ASX:REA) unveiled its financial results for the nine months ending March 31, 2024, showcasing a remarkable year-on-year (YoY) growth. The company's revenue surged to $1,060m, marking a 20% increase, with EBITDA (excluding associates) climbing 24% to $616m. This period's performance was notably propelled by a 24% YoY revenue growth in Q3, reaching $334m, attributed to strong Australian Residential and Commercial yield and substantial growth in the Indian market. The Q3 EBITDA, excluding associates, saw a 30% increase to $177m. Operational highlights for Australia include a 24% rise in Core Australian revenue, primarily driven by double-digit yield growth and consistent listings growth across Residential and Commercial sectors. Notably, national Buy listings rose by 6% during the quarter, with Sydney and Melbourne listings increasing by 20% and 18% respectively. The Australian Residential section enjoyed a strong quarter, with revenue up by 27% due to a 19% increase in Buy yield and enhanced listings. Further, REA Group's leadership in the Australian property market remains unchallenged, with its flagship site, realestate.com.au, maintaining its position as the number one property site. The site achieved new audience highs, with an average of 11.2 million monthly visitors and 130 million monthly visits. In India, REA Group's subsidiary, Housing.com, contributed to the overall success, posting a revenue increase of 31% YoY. This growth was driven by successful property advertising, increased depth penetration, and expanding services on the Housing Edge platform. Looking ahead, REA Group provided a positive outlook, anticipating continued growth in the Australian residential property market and a projected increase in listings of 5-7% for FY24. The company expects Residential Buy yield growth to be between 18-19% in FY24, with further growth anticipated from their Premiere+ product. Despite challenges, REA Group targets positive operating jaws in FY24, highlighting their strategic focus on cost management and revenue growth.
