Is your fire safety equipment ready for harsh environments? Fire extinguishers can lose their effectiveness if exposed to adverse environments - from salty ocean air to high humidity, dust, and vibrations, adverse conditions can seriously impact fire safety equipment. Under Australian Standard 1851-2012, fire extinguishers in these conditions require extra care with increased maintenance to ensure they’re always ready when you need them most. To learn more about what qualifies as an adverse environment, how it affects fire extinguisher maintenance, and the industry standard requirements, read our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/dNQcNYpu #FireExtinguisherMaintenance #Wormald #AdverseEnvironments #FireSafety

Did you know, when you’re asleep, you won’t smell the smoke from a fire? With an increasing number of hazards causing fires in homes, including lithium-ion batteries, Wormald supports Fire and Rescue NSW and all fire services across Australia who are raising awareness about residential fire triggers. Most importantly, having smoke alarms throughout a home significantly reduces the risk of serious impact on life and property. Make sure you have a working smoke alarm, test it regularly, and change the batteries when needed. Stay safe and be prepared. #FireSafety #SmokeAlarmsSaveLives #FireRescueNSW #Wormald
In 2025, NSW has already seen 25 lithium-ion battery fires—13 of those just last week. Our crews responded to four incidents within 12 hours, highlighting a growing concern. A recent NSW Government survey revealed significant community complacency about the risks of lithium-ion battery use. In response, Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell AFSM is urging all NSW residents to follow the advice of the "Shop, Charge and Recycle Safely" campaign. Here’s how you can help reduce the risk of fires: ✅Install a working smoke alarm in rooms where batteries are charged. ✅Stay nearby when charging devices ❌Don't use damaged batteries ❌Never modify a lithium-ion battery Stay informed and learn more about safe shopping, charging, and recycling: https://lnkd.in/geHiskjk

Building Commission NSW recently announced the deferral of mandatory fire safety requirements to comply with AS 1851, which are now due to come into effect on February 13, 2026, 12 months after the original commencement date. The requirement for fire safety certificates to be issued only after an assessment by an accredited practitioner has also been delayed, now commencing from February 13, 2027. This decision was made in response to feedback from the fire protection industry and strata communities, identifying not all stakeholders are ready to support immediate implementation. AS 1851 remains the national benchmark for fire safety servicing and maintenance. Wormald will continue to maintain fire safety measures to meet AS1851 for all its customers in all buildings across the state. Celebrating milestones! We recently recognised staff around the country through our Long Service Awards, honouring the dedication and commitment of our incredible team. From 10 years of service to an astounding 45 years, our employees exemplify what it means to be part of the Wormald family. Congratulations to Glenn Little, who celebrated an impressive 45 years with us after joining the business as a fire sprinker fitter apprentice in 1979, at just 16 years of age. Glenn said that in his time, he’s seen an exponential growth in technology in his day to day work, as well as a big focus on OH&S. He gets the most satisfaction from solving problems, chatting with his regular clients every month, and forming longstanding friendships with colleagues. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our journey. Here's to many more years of protecting lives and properties together. #Wormald #LongServiceAwards #Teamwork
