  • The Vinnies NSW Disaster Appeal is raising vital funds to support communities impacted by Ex Tropical Cyclone Alfred and flooding in Northern NSW. Clare Van Doorn, St Vincent de Paul Society North East Regional Director, spoke with ABC Radio Sydney about the current situation and the best way to support affected communities. “We’re up here, we’re local, we get the donations out to the people in the community who need it and we can target what it is that they need.” Financial donations are the most effective way to support people at this time. All donations over $2 are tax deductible. You can help people get back on their feet by donating at https://lnkd.in/gniCCnHV, calling 13 18 12 or at any Vinnies Shop.

  • Today, we’re launching our Vinnies NSW Disaster Appeal to continue providing vital support to people across Northern NSW impacted by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. ❤️ You can donate to the Vinnies NSW Disaster Appeal by going to our website: https://lnkd.in/gniCCnHV or calling 13 18 12.  The St Vincent de Paul Society NSW will be supplying food, clothing, household goods, and other everyday necessities to people who’ve been evacuated from their homes or are impacted by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.  Our Members and Services throughout the state will be mobilising in the areas of need and providing relief to people in their time of hardship.  At the moment, the best way to help is through financial donations. Through the funds raised, our members will provide immediate assistance as well as medium and long-term support.

  • We are preparing to help people across Northern NSW who are already, and will be, impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred. These are communities that the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW already has a big presence in across our members, services and retail outlets. We are already offering assistance to people in these areas due to the cost-of-living pressures being faced in these communities. And sadly, many of these people are still recovering from flooding in previous years. St Vincent de Paul Society NSW will help assist with the immediate response to the disaster, as well as long-term recovery – just as we have done with disaster events in the past. Our thoughts are with everyone in the cyclone’s path. Stay safe. 💙

  • As a mission-led organisation focused on the dignity of every person, we advocate and uphold the rights of the most vulnerable and oppressed in our communities. All our services, shops and programs are welcoming, safe, and supportive, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. Our intentional work around diversity and inclusion is grounded in the commitment at the core of our mission to serve with love, respect, justice, hope and joy. We continue to seek, grow, and learn more of how best we can make the Society one that is safe, supportive and valuable to all people, especially at this time, within the LGBTQIA+ Community celebrating identity and a significant history through Mardi Gras. This week our shops across Sydney and our services across NSW, have been celebrating LGBTQIA+ pride, culture, and community. This reinforces our pledge of creating a welcoming environment for everyone regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We are committed to fostering inclusion for the diverse people we assist and ensuring that the people who visit our shops and services know we are a safe place for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Internally, we gathered together for a panel discussion organised by our Rainbow Pride Network to mark Mardi Gras and celebrate the 2025 theme of Free to Be. We heard from frontline employees from three of our services and programs who discussed their approach to ensuring our services and programs are safe and inclusive spaces for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Our Vinnies Rainbow Pride Network brings together LGBTQIA+ people and their allies who work for Vinnies anywhere in NSW. The network gives members opportunities to meet, build support, share resources and celebrate. Our vision is for Vinnies NSW to be a place of radical inclusivity, one that is safe and welcoming for the people we serve and work alongside.
