  • Congrats to Liam Millward, William Gao, and the Instant team on their $18m Series A led by Hummingbird Ventures. The momentum across their business has been palpable, with customer demand soaring over the past year. • Congrats to Raenest on completing their US$11m Series A, led by QED Investors and Norrsken22.   "A U.S. company might not care if a payment is delayed by five days, but for someone in Nigeria or Kenya, that's a big deal."   Raenest have processed US$1b+ in payments, grown 160%, and now serve 700,000 workers across Africa. In a region where local currency can be volatile, earning and holding foreign currency is a massive economic enabler. Raenest allows workers in Africa to earn, save, and spend in international currency (ie: USD, GBP, and EUR).   We backed Victor, Richard and Sodruldeen during their Seed round after their years of experience building at Africa's biggest fintechs. Their insights into the market needs have proven spot on.   Proud to support this team as they continue to grow. Link to TechCrunch article in comments 👇

"Backing the right founders is an art and a science." Gopi Sara shares his take on what it takes to be a angel investor —and the traits that make the difference for founders. In this Spotlight Series interview, Gopi Sara shares his journey from arriving in Australia as a Sri Lankan refugee in 2000 to becoming an angel investor with a portfolio of around 30 B2B SaaS startups. After studying engineering, he worked at McKinsey, where he was exposed to the startup ecosystem. He began angel investing in 2020 and now focuses on B2B SaaS companies, leveraging his experience to add value. Notably, he initially invested in OfferFit and later joined the company full-time as a Director after its Series B round. Gopi emphasises the importance of founder qualities in due diligence, seeking individuals who are "missionaries solving genuine pain points they've experienced."
