Had a fabulous day at the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA) Roadshow yesterday - congrats on a great event Sarah Abood, David Marasea, Samantha Sun and team! Wonderful sessions and insights from a fantastic line-up of speakers. Great to see John Cachia on stage, and I loved the actionable takeaways he shared. It was such a good reminder to think about what's really important when hiring for and leading your business - we are the custodians of the future of the industry! I also enjoyed the engaging session from Mark Lewin and while there were so many great tips, as a lover of checklists, the photo of the checklist on the astronaut's arm made me smile! It's always so fun to connect with fellow financial services professionals - many of whom have become friends over the years! The McKinsey & Company report mentioned here by Professional Planner makes for fascinating reading - the US and UK face the same issues we do but at much larger scale. Full credit to Striver and Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA) and others doing what they can to encourage high school students, and uni graduates via PY programs and other pathways... But a key potential (and much more scalable) solution is in "career change" financial advisers. Is it possible that your next new adviser or client service manager or paraplanner is one of your current clients? What better entry to our industry than to have already had one successful career as (say) a business owner, have experienced the value that financial advice delivers personally, and decided to make the move yourself.
