The most mysterious car in motorsport has come back to life! After being secretly photographed at a hidden test day in the 1980s the mid-engine Audi prototype was crushed, never to be seen again…until now. Dave Rowe, from EPS Motorsport in the UK, set out to revive the long lost Audi Quattro RS001 with his only resource being the original handful of blurry photographs. Now, his vision has become a reality. In our latest case study, we explore the intricate process of designing “Grumpy” with minimal information, and investigate the innovations needed to bring the project to life. We also take a closer look at how Dave utilises MoTeC technology and clever engineering to not only maximise performance, but also preserve the car’s original character. In just a few months, EPS' reborn Audi Quattro RS001 will take on one of the most prestigious motorsport events on the calendar – the 2025 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado, USA. With its demanding 4,720 ft elevation gain and fierce competition in the Open class, the challenge will push both Dave and his unique build to their limits. Preparations are already underway with the car recently completing its first test session at Blyton Park. Using the data gathered on track and plenty of MoTeC know-how, Dave is fine-tuning the setup for Grumpy's competition debut. 🏁 🔗Get the full story! https://lnkd.in/dFDNvcbw 🎬 You can also check out the full build series on EPS Motorsport's YouTube channel.
