MECCA Bourke Street is coming. A vision of beauty like you’ve never seen before, where brands, products, services and experiences come together across three larger-than-life levels. Spanning 4,000sqm across three levels, this is not just a new flagship… it’s the MECCA of all MECCAs. Right in the heart of Melbourne, on the iconic site of the former Cole’s Book Arcade, MECCA Bourke Street pushes boundaries and reimagines beauty retail. Think: 80+ services, 200+ of the world’s best beauty brands, a 200sqm MECCAversity auditorium, clinical skin treatments, holistic wellness, fragrance scentsorium and gifting mezzanine, plus a café and a living gallery, all under one roof. And over 300 of our passionate team members will be there to bring it all to life. This space is a love letter to experience, creativity and connection. It is a thank you to our incredible community and an invitation to future collaborators, creatives and changemakers: we built this place with you in mind. MECCA Bourke Street is not only a retail landmark, but a launchpad for ideas, innovation, and impact. The future of beauty opens 8 August, at 299 Bourke Street.

We’re proud to be in our third year supporting Wear It Yellow, a national campaign by Children's Ground that drives meaningful, long-term change with First Nations communities, led by Elders and grounded in culture. To kick off the start of National Reconciliation Week, we were honoured to welcome Jane Vadiveloo CEO of Children’s Ground, to our Monday Morning Meeting to chat to our teams. Jane shared the powerful impact of the campaign and the incredible work Children's Ground is doing to create equity and opportunity in community. As always, our MECCA teams showed up in full force, transforming our stores and Support Centre into vibrant seas of yellow, raising awareness through bright outfits, bold accessories, and striking makeup looks. Reconciliation Week is a time to reflect on our shared history, consider our own privileges, and step outside our comfort zones to confront racism and drive change. Jane and Children’s Ground reminded us that reconciliation isn’t confined to a week; it’s a lifelong journey. Whether it’s wearing yellow, raising funds, teaching, or learning something new, we’re all invited to keep showing up and taking meaningful action. We were proud to back this movement, not just in spirit, but also through action with a $20,000 donation to Children’s Ground to help them continue their life-changing work. And we're proud to keep walking this journey, together.

Forty-five of our brilliant leaders have just wrapped up an extraordinary week at Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where they were immersed in Silicon Valley’s innovation heartland, learning from some of the world’s brightest minds about AI, leadership, strategy, and the future of retail. Led by Michele Gelfand, our team experienced a visionary program rooted in MECCA’s values and driven by possibility, from zooming out to look at the big picture with Brian Lowery and exploring joy in leadership, to tackling creative challenges and diving into culture with Charles O'Reilly and Hayagreeva Rao, the trip was packed with powerful insights and word-class education. The sessions were incredible, but the most heart-filling moments were unplanned. It was the late-night conversations, the shared “aha!” moments over coffee, and the vulnerability of learning together that will shape the way we lead. Our leaders returned not just with fresh perspectives and bold ideas, but with a network of peers who truly get it – and get each other. This investment in our people is just one way we’re building the future of MECCA. Because when we grow our leaders, we grow our ability to operate better, innovate faster, and create unforgettable experiences for our teams and our customers. To our MECCA x Stanford Class of 2025 – you’ve made us proud! We can’t wait to see the magic you’ll create together. ✨ #MECCAMoments #Leadership #StanfordGSB #LifelongLearning #BeautyInnovation #TeamMECCA

M-POWER is how MECCA uses its business and brand to champion gender equality. With 94% of our team being women and one in three Australian women visiting our stores each year, we know beauty is more than skin deep – it’s a powerful force for change. That’s why we’ve committed $25 million over five years to support 20+ social changemakers all driving progress toward a more equal world. At a time when women’s rights are in the global spotlight, we’re doubling down on gender equality – and it’s incredible to see this movement gaining momentum. There’s still work to do, but 2024 has shown that when ambition meets action, beautiful change happens. Our 2024 Beauty of Change Report offers a snapshot into how we’re embedding purpose into everything we do – harnessing the power of business to drive meaningful change. And we’re just getting started. Click on the link here to learn more about how we’re working towards a world where everyone shines https://lnkd.in/gfBRCnsn

This year, MECCA MAX returned as the Official Makeup Partner of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. With the theme, March with MECCA MAX, we invited our team members, customers, and community to share what they’re marching for and showcase the beauty of self-expression. We’re so proud of the six store team members who took centre stage in the campaign and brought it to life. Their stories were the heart of our campaign, embodying the spirit of inclusion and pride. You can read more on MECCA Memo. We celebrated at Fair Day with our MECCA makeup artists helping 300 festival-goers get Mardi Gras-ready. One of the highlights was our MECCA MAX Beauty School, where celebrated MUA Max Made guided guests through a Mardi Gras makeup tutorial. It was a first for MECCA MAX to livestream this experience on TikTok, making it an unforgettable moment for all! In an epic finale, over 60 team members from our stores, Support Centre, Distribution Centre, and Customer Care teams marched down Oxford Street in the Mardi Gras Parade. It was a powerful moment seeing our team come together with the community, walking proudly in celebration of love, diversity, and individuality. What made this partnership so special wasn’t just the campaign or activations – it was the incredible people who joined us and brought it all to life with their unique spark. Thank you for marching with MECCA MAX and making this Mardi Gras one to remember!

Last week, MECCA M-POWER, Minderoo Foundation and Co-Impact brought together some of Australia’s leading philanthropists, funders, and changemakers at MECCA Support Centre to explore how philanthropy and business can work hand in hand to accelerate progress and drive real, lasting change for gender equality. As one of Australasia’s largest philanthropic organisations, Minderoo Foundation is committed to tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges, while Co-Impact, a global philanthropic collaborative, funds women-led, locally driven initiatives that create systemic change. We heard from Minderoo Founder Nicola Forrest, and Co-Impact Founder & CEO Olivia Leland about the transformative impact of Co-Impact’s Gender Fund - which is shifting health, education, and economic systems to create gender-equitable outcomes at scale. We also heard from Nani Zulimarni, Founder of PEKKA, who shared how flexible, long-term funding empowers locally led solutions to thrive and drive real impact on the ground in Indonesia. This is what real progress looks like— harnessing the strength of collaboration, commitment, and a shared drive to make gender equality a reality.
