We raise funds through a wide range of different programs to help support Mater’s provision of exceptional health care, education and investment in world-leading medical research.     An Australian first in robotic surgery! 👏 Mater Private Hospital Townsville orthopaedic surgeon Dr Levi Morse has performed the nation’s first robotic-assisted shoulder replacement surgery, cementing Townsville as the health capital of northern Australia. Mackay’s Kerry Stubbings was the first Australian patient to undergo a robotically assisted shoulder replacement using the Stryker Mako robot, made available through community donations to Mater Foundation.     We are proud to recognise Paul Shih CEO of PRET Australia, as a Mater Foundation Community Hero. Paul is a respected educator and community leader who has trained over 5,000 Mandarin-speaking students since 2010. His commitment to giving back is deeply personal, inspired by the care many of his students and their families have received from Mater. Since 2021, Paul has supported Catherine’s House and the Neonatal Critical Care Unit through the annual PRET Australia Awards Night and a unique partnership with a dragon fruit farm, which donates 2,000kg of fruit each year to support Mater and other charities. Through his leadership, Paul continues to promote socially responsible business and strengthen connections between Mater and the Asian-Australian business community.
