An expert panel is leading the examination. Your response will help shape the panel’s advice to the Australian Government. The 2024 edition of The Victoria Venture Capital Report is live! Nearly $750 million in venture capital and funding flowed into Victorian startups in 2024, representing 19% of total funding and 31% of all deals reported nationally. Victoria defied the national trend, where Fintech and B2B software dominated. Instead, Biotech/Medtech, Climate tech, and Hardware/Robotics led the way, both in total deal volume and in the number of 'mega deals' over $20 million. Startups with at least one woman founder secured 29% of reported deals and 27% of total funding, outperforming the national average. The latest data from Cut Through Venture shows that in 2024, just 2 per cent of $4 billion in total capital raised in Australia went to all-female-founded teams. I was fortunate enough to speak to Nassim Khadem from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on the journey raising capital for Matched, what I think can be done to lift female entrepreneurship and the reality of how it feels to walk into a (virtual) room with the statistics stacked against you.
