Waste management infrastructure - for the world.

About us

Goterra is autonomous food waste management infrastructure: clean organics from processing, kitchen waste and other pre-consumer waste streams, all the way to post-consumer restaurant and household food waste. We support both waste collection providers, collecting on behalf of their clients, as well as independent businesses seeking to recycle their food wastes. Our technology is about integrating with existing systems to create enduring solutions. That’s a core part of who we are.

Amazing event as part of Climate Action Week Sydney! 🌱♻️ Today, we attended the Business Case for Minimising and Recycling Food Waste: Cost, Carbon and Compliance conference, representing the Sydney Opera House. Super interesting discussions on how businesses can cut waste costs, lower carbon emissions, and meet the new food waste recycling regulations. There were great insights from the NSW EPA, End Food Waste Australia, AORA, and EC Waste and Carbon teams, along with other industry experts. I also ran into Martina De Marcos from ORG, who works with Quayclean Australia Pty Ltd collecting food waste at the Opera House, and Ramiro Nasta from EC Focus, who helped organize the session. We visited GOTERRA at the Hyatt Regency Sydney, incredible innovation in sustainable waste management, great to see it working on site! Feeling grateful to work with the Sydney Opera House team, taking real action towards positive environmental impact. Excited to keep pushing for change, implementing new waste management techniques, and finding better ways to make a difference! Looking forward to keep learning and driving forward our 2025 environmental and sustainability goals!

Can our ‘most loved, least-funded’ founder turn garbage into gold? Olympia Yarger says there’s a good business in rubbish. Her battle to raise millions of dollars is nothing compared to what she has been through to get here. “Sometimes traits celebrated in male founders, like ambition, confidence, and unapologetic drive, can be viewed more critically in women. A woman fully embracing her power can be both inspiring and, for some, unsettling.” - Kylie Frazer As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let’s take a leaf out of our founder Olympia Yarger's playbook and talk about real action, not just rhetoric. Female founders receive just 4% of venture capital funding in Australia. The Australian Financial Review profile by Tess Bennett tells the story: “Goterra’s powerhouse founder, has built a world-first solution that transforms food waste into value—securing major customers like Woolworths, Hyatt, and Melbourne Airport. Yet, she’s still fighting to close a $10M raise. She calls herself “Australia’s most loved, least-funded founder,” and it’s hard to argue when many VCs continue to turn their backs on capital-intensive, female-led innovation.” #notallinvestors of course. Thank you to our unwavering investors who have put their money where their mouth is, shoutout to Tenacious Ventures, M&L Hospitality, Flying Fox Ventures, Rampersand, and Giant Leap. They see it: big problems need bold solutions, and bold solutions need real investment. The waste problem isn’t waiting. And with Olympia leading the charge, with capital, she’ll be unstoppable. As Ronan Lehane of Carrara Capital said, “Perseverance is one of the biggest things I look for in founders, and Olympia has that it droves. “What Goterra does isn’t easy, but she has the ability to kick down walls and keep going.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/giGwz2zM #InternationalWomensDay #VentureCapital #FemaleFounders #Goterra

  • Have you heard? Big, bold changes are coming for food waste! The new FOGO Recycling Bill 2024 means businesses in NSW have to get their food waste out of landfill by July 2026. Here’s the thing: these new rules are a big deal, but without the right infrastructure, they’ll be a bust. That’s where Goterra comes in—we’re already kicking food waste to the kerb (in a good way). Our groundbreaking tech is turning your scraps into valuable Ag resources while driving 100% circular outcomes. Let’s be real: this is a today problem. With hefty penalties, businesses can’t afford to miss the boat. We’re here to help you divert food waste from our aging landfills, all while slashing emissions by up to 97%. So, who’s with us?

We’ve now got the green light to bring Food Organics and Garden Organics recycling to all of NSW! Yes, FOGO mandates have now passed the NSW Parliament. What does this groundbreaking announcement mean? $81 million is being invested so that FOGO collection services can be provided for all households by July 2030 and for large businesses and institutions in stages from July 2026. The tide is turning in our war against waste and we expect this plan to divert one million tonnes of organic waste from landfill every year. Still unsure what FOGO is? It’s a kerbside collection service for food waste so that it can be processed and turned into top quality compost. That commercial compost then gets shipped to help nurture things like: • Local parks and sporting fields • Tiny forests to breathe life into urban areas • Trees and bushland around roadways and railways • Boosting agricultural output Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia Waste Contractors and Recyclers Association NSW & ACT (WCRA) Local Government NSW NSW Government AORA - Australian Organics Recycling Association Limited SOILCO Amanda Kane Alexandra Geddes

You can't ask that... but we did. Our fearless finale brought back three of the most compelling speakers this year David 'DJ' Jochinke, National Farmers' Federation, Olympia Yarger, GOTERRA and Andrew Bate SwarmFarm Robotics - as voted by our delegates over the two days, for an unfiltered conversation about driving real progress in the sector. These audience-chosen thought leaders tackled the tough questions head-on, challenging the status quo and pushing boundaries. To close AgriFutures evokeAG 2025 AgriFutures Australia Chair, Cathy McGowan turned inspiration into action by calling on each attendee to make a personal pledge - one meaningful commitment to progress our sector over the next 12 months. As the event drew to a close, we weren't just wrapping up conversations - we were catalysing change. The momentum continues. Will you lead the way to evokeAG 2026? #evokeAG2025 #agrifood #innovation #technology

  • We're in the full swing of the festive season now and did you know that food waste increases by a staggering 30% at Christmas? Join us in reducing your food waste this year. Plan things out, don't cater for 50 when there are 20, store leftovers, and keep your food waste out of the red bin. Small actions can lead to big differences. A huge and heartfelt thank you to all our customers, partners, and stakeholders for your incredible support throughout the year, and especially to every one of our team, who show up every day and make Goterra a very special place to work.
