Today, on International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we celebrate the brilliance, resilience, and contributions of women in STEM fields across the globe. Science and innovation thrive on diversity and ability to welcome the disruptive nature of diversity in a healthy and positive way. That is why we continuously put energy and effort on reminding ourselves that it should be celebrated and not apologized for. Ideally, we should be doing this every day, but days like this provide us the opportunity to do it with a themed focus.   Some alarming facts despite the progress we make in this area 1. Women entering emerging disciplines in STEM are still disproportionate - In fields like Artificial Intelligence, only 1 in 5 professionals is a woman (https://lnkd.in/eYVpnKzB). 2. Women rising to leadership in STEM are still disproportionate compared to those who enter the discipline. E.g. Nearly 80% of the healthcare workforce are women but only 21% are in executive and board member roles (https://lnkd.in/ecbmPut). 3. Women in STEM make approximately $14,000 less compared to male counterparts annually (https://lnkd.in/gNjmQytm).
