177-179/365 Creating

This post is all about being creative it would seem. The other day my youngest asked if I would make something for her teacher who is having a baby.  I suggested a blanket so I headed off to the shops with her to choose some yarn, also I bought some cardstock for some birthday cards and some of this gorgeous pink felt for a little coin purse I am going to make for my neighbours little girl who turns 6 soon.  Have you got any creative projects on the go?

59/365 Repairs

I have to confess I can be a very big procrastinator in many areas of my life, definitely not when it comes to cleaning and organising my home though.  And mostly that is probably because it is part of my routine and it makes it much easier to not procrastinate.  I had one school uniform to repair since last year and then slowly I have had more things added to the pile.  Today I finally sat down and did some of those repairs which was a good feeling.  Only my daughter showed me this afternoon a repair to yet another uniform requiring attention. Oh well two repairs done and two still to go.

28/365 Birthday Sewing Complete

Today I stopped the procrastinating and got into my office and completed birthday sewing for my daughter with a few days to spare. I found the pattern for the pouch here if you are interested in sewing one for yourself or maybe for a gift.  The pattern doesn't quite give you as many measurements as I would like however you can easily work it out for yourself.  As I hadn't sewn it quite a while I did sew a little close to the zip so it does catch a little which is disappointing.  I am hoping that it doesn't cause to much of an inconvenience to my daughter when she uses it otherwise I may have to make another.  So this is the end result, filled with some emery boards, some scissors and some tweezers all of her very own.

24/365 Birthday Sewing

My youngest daughter will be celebrating a birthday soon and she mentioned that she might like something homemade.  It has been a little while since I have done some birthday sewing but how sweet that she would like me to make her something.  Being a teenager I don't think I could sew clothing suitable other than pyjamas so I thought that a little purse and then I would fill it with things for her to have her own manicure set.  These are the fabrics I selected for her.  I really like the softness of these fabrics.  I hope she will like them too.

146-150/356 'My Week'

Sunset, the colours are amazing some afternoons.
A male birthday card.
My Miss 10 trying on her dress up outfit for her excursion tomorrow.  I made her a simple skirt using this tutorial and a detachable peter pan collar.  The hat was bought from a dollar and cents shop, stockings and top from Target and the apron from an op shop.
I am making good progress on the baby blanket.
Yesterday I treated myself to a couple of new books, I was in need of some inspiration.
How has your week been?

121-127/365

Well it's been a while, a while for me anyway. I do enjoy my little space here and doing this 365 project.  I am finding it a little challenging at times, motivation waining, lack of inspiration at times too but I really want to keep doing it.  My hope is that my photography grows and my photos get better but most of all I am hoping it will also be healing too. Tomorrow would have been my Dad's 63rd birthday.  I wish he could be here to celebrate with us but he can't so we are going to celebrate it in his memory at his favourite restaurant.  I think we might even make it a ritual, to keep it a happy, special day always.  So what have I been up this last week.....
I got out in the garden and planted some new seedlings.
We were invited to lunch on Sunday so I got Miss 14 to work and she made this delicious chocolate tart and this pastry recipe. No really she loves to bake and she especially enjoys all the tasting as she goes too.
Our neighbour got married on Saturday.  What a surprise to find a cute wedding car in the street.
I got the knitting needles clicking and made a new dishcloth for the kitchen, just a simple moss stitch pattern.
I have been doing some more sewing and I have finished the top of Miss 10's quilt top.
More pretty mail in my letterbox.  I will be making one of these blankets with the yarn for a little baby girl.
Baking day yesterday.  I made these yummy biscuits if you are looking for inspiration for lunch boxes.
And there was also a bit of card making done today.  This one is for a boy who just turned 11 years old.

Have you had a good week?

118/365

And so the motivation continues with my unfinished craft projects so I'm going with it, getting things done, it feels good like I'm getting back to myself again with crafting.  I have almost sewn the rows together now for my Miss 10's quilt I bought the fabric for way back here. I think for me the reason why I don't get things done is mostly motivation.  Sometimes I get overwhelmed by the size of my projects but I really like to challenge myself too. Then when things are just that little bit different I freeze because I don't want to make a mistake.  I know it doesn't matter if I do make a mistake it means I'm learning so I'm pushing past those invisible barriers and getting things achieved.

The man who makes no mistakes does not usually make anything.

62-64/365

My craft room has been looking a bit of a mess the last few days with me finally getting my sewing mojo on, believe me there was a whole lot on the floor in the corner.
Ahh I have a real weakness for buying magazines.  I bought a new magazine and a cookbook today.  There is some really yummy whole food recipes in this cookbook I can't wait to try.
Our Miss Molly has her 4th birthday tomorrow so I made her a new blanket using some scrap flannel fabric I had in my stash.

So how has your week been so far?  I hope it's been lovely.

This week there were many stormy skies and beautiful rainbows to follow.  We went from grass that looked like straw after a very dry October to green grass overnight.  It has been nice to get some relief from the heat and some water for the tank, so now there will be some more vegetable planting again. Miss Molly got a bath much to her dislike but boy does she smell and look a lot sweeter now.  And one of my Miss Maggie rabbits is complete.  The other little one is waiting for her dress to be finished, they have been so much fun to make. My week ahead will be a busy one getting in the Christmas shopping before my girls finish school in just 2 weeks!! Hopefully there will be some card making and class mate gift making, quilt sewing, a school breakfast and a carol night too, the joys of this time of year.

How has your week been?  I hope it's been a lovely one.

This week

・we went up to my parents home for a visit.  This is my Dad's latest project, a hot rod in the making, something he's always wanted to do after selling his many years ago.
・Miss Maggie one and two waiting to be finished.
・arms and legs needing to be filled and attached to the little grey bunny, a Christmas gift for my niece.
・I've started making Miss 9's birthday quilt, here are more rows pinned, waiting to be sewn.
・bird watching. If you look closely there is a silhouette of a small bird in the branch.  It's a little baby black-faced cuckoo-shrike ready to fly from the nest. Only today has it made it's first short flight.
・card making for her class.  She will be finished year 4 in just 3 weeks so we're starting early so we're ready in time.

I hope your week has been lovely, may the week ahead be a wonderful one.
