Romania has finally provided more clarity regarding foreign direct investment (FDI) screening by publishing draft guidelines (the "Guidelines"), which are expected to enter into force in March 2025. Presenting the 58th edition of our data protection newsletter with summaries of last week's #GDPR decisions by the #ECHR, #OGH and #BVwG, as well as opinions of the advocate generals of the #ECJ and #Commission Guidelines on #AI. The ECHR delivered two judgments on the sharing of data concerning sexual orientation in connection with the Russian social media platform #VKontakte. The #ECJ's advocate generals opined (i) on the definitions of personal data and pseudonymisation, as well as (ii) on the liability and role of host providers. As part of the EU Gas and Hydrogen Package, the Internal Gas Market Directive (IGMD) makes new provisions for the phase-out of gas by network operators through the decommissioning of gas networks. Article 57 of the directive requires gas distribution system operators (DSOs) to develop network decommissioning plans (NDPs) if a reduction in demand is anticipated.   In their latest legal insight, Schoenherr experts Marta Krzystek and Moritz Üblagger outline the directive's implications for end customers, as well as the conditions for party status.
