I am currently on the train back from the DOAG / KI Navigator conference in Nürnberg, held from November 19th to 21st, 2024, and I must say, the experience was both enriching and inspiring. Of course Artificial Intelligence was a central theme throughout the event, with many discussions focusing on the innovative features of the latest Oracle 23ai database release. In my own presentation, I showcased the new Oracle 23ai capabilities of importing Large Language Models (LLMs) directly into the database. This approach enables in-database generation of embeddings and allows for vector search queries, eliminating the need for complex pipelines to generate and store embeddings in external vector stores. It's a significant step forward for adding semantic search or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) capabilities to existing applications running on Oracle databases with minimal effort. One of the talks that resonated with me was Johann-Peter Hartmann's update on LLM Security. He gave a great intro to the latest OWASP Top 10 for LLM applications, providing valuable insights into securing AI systems—a crucial aspect as we continue to integrate AI more deeply into our solutions. Today Thomas Keßler presented a refined AI adoption maturity model, offering valuable insights for organizations charting their AI strategies. This model provides practical guidance for companies to enhance their AI adoption journey. The conference reinforced what we at ORBIT Cloud Solutions consistently advocate: the intersection of innovation and practical enterprise solutions is where true digital transformation happens.
