This book was written by Uriah Smith, the Seventh-day Adventist author and past long-time editor for "The Review and Herald." It is a systematic examination of all (or nearly all) the verses of the Bible on the doctrines of the immortality of the soul and eternal torment in hell. It aims to prove that the Bible's own teachings refute both of these teachings. He advocates conditional immortality and the annhilation of the wicked into nothingness. He is a very good writer, and shows a strong sense of humor despite the seriousness of the subject. This book was originally published in 1897, so it's now in the public domain.
