Our founder, Mr Isidoros Spanos sets up his business as a sole trader, with main object of activity the trade of Chemicals and Fertilizers.

IMPORTANT AGREEMENTS

Agency Agreement with German Trading Company Helm AG. HELM AG is a leading Chemicals Marketing and Sales Organization based in Hamburg with sales over EUR 5 billion. The cooperation still goes on.

1996. Participation in management

Gradual participation in the Management of the company of the second generation of Spanos family.

MARKETING SHIFT

Throughout the 2000s the company has changed from a pure trading company to a marketing organization/distribution company, taking a long-term view of the market requirements and the functions that are creating value for its partners. The company’s growth in the years that followed was rapid.

Creation of Business Unit Polymers which has proven on of the Growth drivers of the company.

Set up of the first Logistics HUB in Aspropirgos, Greece.

AFCO FOUNDATION

Conversion of the Company from General Liability Company to Societe Anonyme and change of legal entity’s name of the company to Aegean First Company AFCO SA

In 2008, AFCO reached 30 years of continuous successful operation. From the first day of its incorporation, AFCO has remained focused on the core values set by its founder. Throughout these years AFCO has strived for continuous growth and improvement.
