The UAE’s recent mandate for female representation on private company boards marks a significant step toward rebalancing our leadership landscape. But it’s more than policy—it’s an invitation for leaders to pause, reflect, and engage in 'good faith' transformation, while celebrating the impactful work of women like Dr. Raja Al Gurg, Shamsa Al Falasi, Rola Abu Manneh, Najla Al-Midfa, Hana Al Rostamani, and Maryam Bahlooq. I often speak with leaders about accountability and the ripple effects of "what we permit is what we promote." Just as a lack of accountability can undermine trust and culture, true diversity in our boards can only thrive in an environment where all voices are respected and empowered to contribute as the fiduciaries they are. Representation is about having a voice that’s heard, valued, and able to challenge norms for the betterment of business. This policy shift is our moment to go beyond surface-level change.
