Mass General Brigham Ventures portfolio company Rippl has announced the acquisition of Kinto Care, a move that promises to enhance dementia care significantly. As a medical speech-language pathologist and dementia care specialist, this fills me with hope, knowing that our patients and their caregivers will have a chance at better access to high-quality care. Also excited to see the solutions being offered by Harmonic Health and Neuroglee Health in this space. I’ve seen first hand how difficult it is for individuals with dementia and their caregivers to manage every aspect of their care, from diagnosis to evidence-based treatments, navigating the compexities of our healthcare and reimbursement systems, and receiving adequate education and support throughout the neurodegenerative process - right until the end of life. It’s challenging and isolating and debiltating. The integration of #generativeAI #healthcaretechnology and digital health solutions for dementia care look like they will not only support patients but also caregivers, families, and clinicians. 🌟 On the eve of the Global AI Show in Dubai, I want to share some profound insights from Geoffrey Hinton, widely regarded as the "godfather of AI," recently published in #LancetDigitalHealth. #Hinton raises a crucial point about AI in healthcare that resonates deeply with what we are seeing in the GCC's healthcare sector: limiting AI's capabilities in clinical practice could be counterproductive when our goal is to enhance patient care beyond current limitations. He wisely notes: "...It does not make much sense to limit the intelligence of an AI-Doctor, when its entire purpose is to surpass its human equivalents." However, he balances this ambition with a call for responsible development: "We need to do research to find the best solution regarding the security of AI." M42 unveils the next generation of its AI Clinical LLM Med42 M42 Health unveiled #Med42, the next generation of its open-access generative AI Clinical Large Language Model (#LLM), during Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week. #Med42 builds upon the success of its initial launch in October 2023, setting new standards for accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility in #healthcare #AI. The first iteration of #Med42 outperformed industry benchmarks, including OpenAI's GPT3.5 and Google's #MedPaLM models, scoring 72 percent on the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) (USMLE) Sample Exam questions. The second iteration of Med42 is a fully optimized 70-billion parameter finetuned model based on #Llama3, Meta's latest version of open-access #LLMs. Med42's performance in its second iteration rivals that of proprietary models like OpenAI's #GPT4 and Google's #MedGemini, achieving a zero-shot accuracy score of 85.1 percent and a maximum accuracy score of 87.3 percent using specialized prompting on the #USMLE. Ashish Ipe Koshy, Group Chief Operating Officer of M42, expressed excitement for the release, highlighting its significant step forward in leveraging AI for the benefit of patients and #healthcare professionals. Healthcare Reinvented Via Gene-focused AI? Possible and Cost-Effective, Abu Dhabi’s M42 Assumes. The bold vision behind M42 Health, a global tech-enabled Abu Dhabi-based healthcare company is to redefine the future of healthcare globally with AI. Nothing new, you will say—numerous tech companies promised to do so in specific domains, from Aidoc or Zebra Medical Vision in radiology to Google DeepMind in broader medicine. My latest for Forbes: OpenAI’s latest venture, #SearchGPT, and its impact on healthcare I take a look at the differences between & progress made from #ChatGPT, which is one of the most widely used consumer platforms. However, the internet search “game” is still largely dominated by industry veterans— especially Google, which has optimized this arena for nearly two decades. Microsoft’s Bing has also grown its market share. As for healthcare, there are a lot of potential opportunities— and with them, numerous risks. OpenAI, that does not need to be presented is partnering with Thrive Global to build an #AI-enabled #coach to drive behavioral change. From my perspective this is a huge annoncement and I cannot wait to see this coming to life. The ability of a virtual coach is really to give access to great number of users and I am sure this will have a tremendous impact on patient lives. We are pursuing the same purpose on our side when we are building behavioral science driven model such as SPUR to better understand #patient and be able to provide personnalized coaching system. Companies like Aidoc have developed technologies that detect brain hemorrhages and tiny tumors often missed by human doctors. The advantages are clear: 1. Faster #diagnosis, potentially saving lives 2. Increased accuracy in identifying subtle patterns 3. Reduction of human error However, we must remember: 1.
