The evaluation involved children, educators, parents, and other key stakeholders, providing valuable insights into what has worked well and where improvements are needed.

First evaluation of the BIK+ strategy released: children’s voices and expert insights shaping Europe’s digital future

Launched by the European Commission in May 2022, the BIK+ strategy builds on two decades of EU leadership in online child safety. This first evaluation draws on direct input from more than 750 children and young people – including those from vulnerable backgrounds – alongside consultations with more than 360 adult stakeholders, including educators, parents, representatives and experts from civil society, academia, industry, and policymaking. Together, their voices provide a 360-degree view of the strategy’s successes and the challenges that remain.

BIK Policy monitor report 2025 published: advancing the BIK+ vision across Europe

The BIK+ strategy, adopted by the European Commission in May 2022, sets out a comprehensive vision to ensure that children and young people are protected, empowered, and respected online. The BIK Policy monitor 2025 reviews how this vision is being realised across the 27 EU Member States, Iceland, and Norway, assessing both approaches to policy making and on-the-ground actions. It highlights progress, gaps, and good practices under the strategy’s three pillars: safe digital experiences, digital empowerment, and active participation.
