Davenport was cleared of assaulting his pregnant sister on 1 July
Former West Ham defender Calum Davenport is training with Nottingham Forest, the Championship club has said.
The former England Under-21 player is currently a free agent after being released by the Hammers.
"We're giving Calum the opportunity to train with us while giving ourselves the chance to look at him," Forest boss Billy Davies told the club's website.
The 27-year-old centre-back suffered serious leg wounds in a stabbing incident in August 2009.
Davenport started his career with Coventry before moving to Tottenham.
During his time at White Hart Lane he had loan spells with West Ham, Southampton and Norwich before making a permanent switch to the Hammers in 2007.
More recently he has appeared on loan for Watford and Sunderland.
He suffered serious leg injuries in the stabbing incident at his mother's Bedfordshire home.
In July 2010 Davenport was cleared of trying to attack his pregnant sister during the incident while a man was jailed for six years for a knife attack on the footballer.
