Voiceless

I am currently into day eight of laryngitis. This is the first day that I have started to feel better, but keep crashing every now and then.

This being said it has only been since the beginning of the week where my body has plain given up and I have had no choice but to rest for a while. Saturday was Brampton market, and as usual I came home with the days takings and hefty bartered swag from the other traders. It was Mothers Day on Sunday and I was whisked away to the Lakes for the day. It was beautiful Spring weather and we went to Grasmere for a wander around Wordsworth's daffodil garden as they are all out in force.

We stopped at the riverside tearooms for a lovely lunch overlooking the water opposite the church and Wordsworth's final resting place. I was drinking a lot of tea as I had no voice at all at this point, and it was spectacular. Everything just fell right - the kids were well behaved (and given that Alex had a piece of cake the size of her head, what could she possibly be grumpy about?) and enamoured with looking for shoals of tiddlers in the river while we ate. We wandered around the village, stopped at the gorgeous bookstore (this is my favourite indy bookstore - tiny space, but could quite happily ready every book in there - it is such a well thought out place) and got our gingerbread before heading over to Ambleside.

Once there we get our apple pie and head for the park. The place was packed given it was such beautiful weather and it was lovely just being in the sun.

Ended the day at Castlerigg - my Spirit home.

Really happy day.

Since then I have had my crash and slept a lot in between coughing. Mam and David came by yesterday which was good, and today I have mustered enough energy to nip to Costco and to do some gardening. I have hit eBay in a big way and the packages are arriving, mainly with party supplies and bits and bobs for Maya's birthday but I did treat myself to a new camera. I cannot tell you how much I have missed my camera. The last lens went kaput just before Christmas, and the little snap camera I got from a local selling page was naff. I figured we could not get the ideal one I would like, so a good, older model replacement would do until I could do a big upgrade.  So a couple of days ago I spotted a Nikon D100 bundle and bought it. It arrived today. I am very happy.

Alex got to help with the digging too. She may have eaten some of the soil. She was very happy too.

Good times.

Time to say Bye Bye to Patsy, Im afraid.

I have been wanting to move from the voddiegirl name for a while now and after my fantastic, wonderful, scrump-diidly-umptious friend, [livejournal.com profile] lanternlady  gave me the early Christmas pressie of a paid account. I am upgrading, and Winter Soltice/lunar eclipse cleaning out this account.

If this is the last message you see its because I have downsized my friends list - please dont be offended, but if we dont post on each others LJ's and generally lurk about at one another, then whats the point? That being said, message me if you want to be added, but I will be going *Friends Only* on my LJ from here on out anyways.

So one last time - "CHEERS!"

Sassy.

No contest.

When she sings, "I'll be Seeing You."  It doesnt just pull at your heart strings. It cuts them out, throws them on the floor and jumps up and down on em.

Entries.

I just happened to glance at my user stats and this one makes it all One's..

Five years to get to this marker. And given the clean outs, reshuffles and new energy of my f-list lately I have been getting all nostalgic.

Its still good to be here.

Life is good.

And LJ rocks.

The bath. Its a meditation space.

The arbour. Also a meditation space.

I had a fantastic half hour sat at the garden table with the sun on my back and watching the birds at the feeders.

An island in the Med that I one day will own.

Happy bday shoutout to [livejournal.com profile] baggsie . The day has been spent with the birthday boy and his tonsilitus, and even though we were promised indian food we didnt get any. A Greggs sarnie had to suffice. Ah well, it was a good excuse to do nothing but watch AD and drink tea. As well as open and fanatically consume a packet of Edinburgh rock. Even though its manky stuff.

Made a carrot cake - threw it together when hubby and bags were out getting the sarnies and pasties. I havent got the cream cheese to make the icing though. Will do that in the morning after a trip to the shops.

Just got off the phone to me Mam. One of her chooks is going broody. She has been sat on her eggs for four hours and plucking out her belly feathers. Me Mam didnt know what was happening, so I told ehr to get all the eggs out of there as soon as they are laid. The chook will probably have a go at her, but its got to be done.

Speaking of rowdy chooks. Miranda has been up to her loudmouth tricks again. I got shook awake this morning by a very irate hubby with a very sleepy Baboo on his arm and him saying, "Go and Kill Miranda..." She had been sat singing at the morning for twenty minutes. I know she is a big and butch hen, but she is now trying to be a cockeral. Oh dear.. If we hadnt named her he would have been in the pot long ago.

Baboo has had a bad couple of nights. Luckily it has come just after I have read up on growth spurts and how they effect the sleeping routine. Looks like that it what is going on. She has been doing really well getting a dream feed at 10:30 and not waking again until 5:30. This we can handle. The past couple of nights she has been up at 2am and not drifting off again until after 4. And afteer bunches of food. The bottle ounceage has been upped again, so she is on 8oz a feed, every three hours, or hungrier milk. I think she is going to have to go onto solids sooner than expected - she just isnt filling in on milk. We have to hold out for the next four weeks and then baby rice and porridges here we come!

I went mad finding free ringtones last night too. I found the AD theme tune for mine and Franklin Comes Alive for a text tone. I got the Chuck theme tune as a suprise for hubby. I could get The Final Countdown as a freebie, even though it would have been funny.

I have started Christmas shopping too. Well eBay Christmas bookmarking. Its all good.

Dinnertime!

4-1

Utter rubbish.

That is how we have played. Again a bunch of individuals, not a team. And of course, its against the Germans.

We should have been 2-2 by the half way point, but a very clear goal (we are talking a YARD over the line here) was disallowed as the blind linesman said he couldnt see it.

No doubt there will be hell on at FIFA given that we as a nation spend the most money on football. And the only person standing in the way of ball/line technology is the current FIFA chairman. Everyone else in the sport has said it should be in place. Apparently the FIFA bloke thinks that controversial referee decision debates are favoured by the watching millions of fans. Not when its the world cup, mate. I would rather have been on even ground at half time and come out with a fighting chance.

So thats that. Done for another four years.

Living in a village that overlooks a city. If that makes sense.

And I am dreaming about big sprawling countryside places to move to next!

When I was young I always wanted to be in the centre of a large city, and being brought up in a massive industrial town across the water from a city, it was grand.

As I have gotten older I have just wanted to be somewhere green, and lush, and quiet.

And we will get there soon ;)

Wow

Is anyone else watching the Isner/Mahut match on Wimbledon?

These guys are currently playing the longest match in tennis history and have been banging about for 9hours and 25 minutes. And counting.

Absolutley amazing.

Boring match, but the fact that they have been playing the fifth set 390-ish minutes and are currently at 55/55 games all.

Unreal.

And this is the first round.

Whomever ends up winning, isnt getting further anyways - how could they? They are both completely fried!

In labour yet?

Just watching Gordo in the limo convoy on his way to see the Queen to give his resignation as PM.

He did a very dignified speech with his voice only breaking when he was speaking about his primary job being that of a husband and father.

So we will have Prime Minister Cameron by the morning.

The Lib Dems have made a coalition with the Conservatives, an alliance that the press are desparately trying to call the Lib-Tory government, but really we all know it's Con-Dem.

Literally.

Back up and into the Premiership - where we belong after a 2-0 win over Plymouth. I have to say the people at Plymouth have been great as with this loss they have been relegated but still played our music, allowed the fans onto the pitch to carry the players around and even held up a big banner saying "Well Done Newcastle" at the start of the match.

The party is still going on on the pitch, and there is going to be some noise in Plymouth tonight!

Toon! Toon!
