The Vodacom Foundation, in partnership with the Smile Foundation, held another impactful edition of Smile Week at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, Rondebosch, Cape Town, during which several children from underserved communities underwent transformative reconstructive surgery that will significantly alter the course of their lives❤️.   One of the remarkable patients whose life has been transformed is a young girl who suffered severe burns at the age of two after accidentally pulling a kettle of boiling water onto herself. The injuries affected 48% of her body, including her face, chest, back, arm and leg. After months of specialist treatment, she underwent a reconstructive surgery to improve the function and mobility of her arm, a significant step in her recovery journey.   Over the years, Vodacom Foundation has contributed more than 𝗥𝟮𝟳.𝟲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝟵𝟯𝟰 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻. The funding assists with surgical procedures, as well as transportation, accommodation and meals for the children and their caregivers. Vodacom employees also actively participate in Smile Week, demonstrating our shared commitment to improving lives.   Waldi Wepener, Managing Executive for Vodacom Western Region commented: “Our partnership with Smile Foundation is built on a shared commitment to improving the lives of children. We are proud to support the incredible healthcare professionals who give their time and expertise to these life-changing surgeries. Seeing the difference this care makes to children and their families reminds us why partnerships like this matter. Together, we are helping children overcome significant challenges and giving them the confidence and opportunity to realise their full potential.” #FurtherTogether

In Tanzania, saving together is more than a financial habit – it is a system built on trust🤝. For generations, community savings groups have helped people support one another, plan ahead, and build resilience. Through M-Koba, Vodacom Tanzania is helping bring that trusted model into the digital economy by making savings safer, more transparent, and more accessible. In FY2026, M-Koba reached 299,420 active groups, with total savings growing by 81% to TZS1.4 trillion. Most members are women, reinforcing the platform’s role in expanding financial confidence, independence, and opportunity in communities across Tanzania. But M-Koba is part of a bigger picture. Through M-Pesa, Vodacom Tanzania is helping more people participate in the formal economy, from everyday payments and savings to investment and cross-border transactions: ▪️611,487 Lipa na M-Pesa merchants enabled digital payments; ▪️5.5 million customers used Lipa and M-Pesa each month; ▪️TZS1.4 trillion in cross-border network transactions were processed from M-Pesa wallets; and ▪️14.1 million financial-inclusion customers were reached in FY2026. This is what financial inclusion looks like in practice, providing technology built around how people already live, save, and support each other, helping communities turn connection into greater security, agency, and progress. This International Youth Month, we celebrate the remarkable journeys of our people through the launch of our Graduates to Leaders series. Over the coming weeks, across the Vodacom Group, we'll spotlight employees who began their careers as graduates and have grown into impactful leaders across our markets. Meet Lisemelo Ramafikeng. In 2014, Lisemelo joined Vodacom Lesotho as an M-Pesa Partnerships Intern, eager to learn, contribute, and make the most of an opportunity. What began as a first step into the world of work would become a journey defined by growth, resilience, and a willingness to embrace every opportunity that came her way. Over the years, she progressed from M-Pesa into Vodacom Business, building her experience through roles in relationship management, senior account management, and leadership. Her commitment, performance, and ability to take on new challenges saw her rise through the organisation, serving as Acting Executive Head before ultimately being appointed Executive Head of Vodacom Business. Like many successful leaders, Lisemelo's journey was not always accompanied by certainty. As her responsibilities grew, there were moments of self-doubt and questions about whether she was ready for the next step. Rather than allowing uncertainty to hold her back, she chose to lean into growth. She raised her hand for stretch assignments, embraced opportunities that challenged her, and trusted in her ability to learn and adapt. Throughout her journey, mentors, sponsors, and coaches played an important role in challenging her thinking, advocating for her growth, and helping her see possibilities beyond what she could see for herself. Outside of work, the encouragement of her parents and siblings provided a strong foundation of support that empowered her to keep moving forward. As Enterprise became increasingly strategic to the business, the function's reporting structure evolved, and Lisemelo began reporting directly to the Managing Director. Today, she leads teams across sales, support, products, helpdesk, and technology, while contributing to strategic decisions that shape the broader business. In 2025, she was selected for Vodafone's Ignite Talent Programme, an initiative designed to accelerate high-potential talent towards senior leadership. The programme represented not a destination, but another opportunity to learn, grow, and prepare for even greater responsibility. Her experience has also shaped the kind of leader she aspires to be. She believes in creating opportunities, encouraging people to raise their hands for challenges, and reminding them of their potential when doubt begins to creep in. From an intern with much to learn to an Executive Head leading a critical business function, Lisemelo's story is a powerful reminder that growth happens when we are willing to step beyond our comfort zones. For Lisemelo, progress is not the absence of doubt. It is the courage to keep moving forward despite it.

At the 2026 GBVF Business Conference yesterday, hosted by GIBS Business School in Illovo, Shobana Singh, Managing Executive: Property and Facilities at Vodacom, joined a panel discussion on the role of organisations in addressing GBVF. Fellow panellists included Sabrina Walter, Founder of Women for Change; Sanelisiwe Jantjies, Head of Social Policy and Labour Market Policy at Business Unity South Africa (BUSA); and Lisa Vetten, Research Associate at the Southern Centre for Inequality Studies, Wits University. The panel discussion focused on the critical role that organisational leadership, HR policies, and ethical culture play in addressing GBVF. Shobana emphasised that preventing and responding to GBVF requires more than compliance with policies and regulations. It demands a holistic and integrated approach, where leadership commitment, effective HR practices, prevention initiatives, reporting mechanisms, employee support structures, and accountability measures work together to create a safe and supportive environment. She further highlighted Vodacom's longstanding commitment to addressing GBVF, noting that in 2019, the company became the first in South Africa to introduce a dedicated policy to support employees affected by domestic violence or abuse, whether experienced within or outside the workplace. Shobana also showcased several of Vodacom's women-focused empowerment initiatives, which are designed to support women's economic participation, advance gender equality, and create opportunities for women to thrive both professionally and personally. Through these programmes, Vodacom continues to demonstrate its commitment to building a more inclusive, equitable, and supportive society🤝 . #FurtherTogether

Yesterday, Andisa Ntsubane, Managing Executive: Brand, Marketing and Communications, participated in the 2026 GBVF Business Conference at GIBS Business School in Illovo. Sponsored by the Vodacom Foundation and the Hlanganisa Community Fund for Social and Gender Justice, the event brought together leaders from across sectors to strengthen South Africa’s response to gender-based violence and femicide.   In his keynote address, Andisa highlighted the findings of the KPMG report that estimates that GBV costs South Africa up to R42.4 billion annually and requires collective action to address. He outlined Vodacom’s efforts to combat GBVF through survivor empowerment, digital support services, school-based interventions, and a R10 million contribution to the GBVF Response Fund, which supports the development of Thuthuzela Care Centres🤝.   Concluding his address, Andisa said: “My hope is that in five years’ time, this conference will no longer be necessary. I invite all of you to partner with us as we accelerate efforts to eradicate the scourge in our country.” #FurtherTogether

When every drop counts, better data can make a real difference💧. Water loss, ageing infrastructure, and inaccurate billing place growing pressure on municipalities and the communities they serve. The answer is not only more infrastructure, but smarter infrastructure. Through Vodacom’s IoT-enabled Digital Water Tower solutions, municipalities can monitor water consumption in near real time, identify potential leaks and losses, and improve the accuracy of billing and service delivery. In FY2026, Vodacom has supported five South African municipalities with smart utility solutions, with 147,600 smart water meters installed. The roll-out also created local opportunity, with 650 community members trained and employed during installation. This is technology with purpose: helping cities manage a precious resource more efficiently, while supporting more resilient, sustainable communities.
