The Commonwealth Leadership Institute was established in 2024 with the endorsement of King Charles III and in collaboration with the Commonwealth, Cardiff and Vale University, the Health Board, and academic institutions including the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and Swansea University. Partners also include the Dragon’s Heart Institute and the All Wales Intensive Learning Academy.
Our Vision By June 2029, we will have identified and connected at least 5,000 young/future leaders across the 56 Commonwealth countries and as many of the other 139 global countries as we wish to join. We will respectfully engage with young leaders in each Country, knowing we have more to learn than to teach.
We will capture and encourage the sharing of learning for all future health leaders to spread innovation, best practices and solutions to jointly tackle those unprecedented global complexities. By June 2025, we wish to create openly advertised and competitive Fellowships to underpin an initial cohort/generation of 56 intergenerational leaders across the Commonwealth and several other global countries. These Fellows will be mentored and supported to spearhead innovative solutions to the worldwide community’s pressing health challenges and begin positively impacting global health and well-being.
