Cheerful mural! Although there's no snow in this photo (took it a couple of weeks ago), Belgrade has been pretty much covered with snow this month. I wanted to fly somewhere....
This airplane seemed to have taken off from Boeing Field here in Seattle. Perhaps it is on a test run and is a plane to be exported to some foreign airline? Never saw any green-bellied planes here.
This dissipated airplane trail resembles knuckle bones, I think, and the reflections from my lens make the photo look like some sort of artwork.
Like with the ranks of the military personnel I posted on Monday, I am not good at naming aircraft. All I know is that this airplane is old (duh..) and that it stands in front of the Belgrade Aviation Academy. I think it is probably yearning to make a streak in the sky like the one above, but alas....it's forever grounded.
Caught a glimpse of the fast-moving BLUE ANGELS as they rushed over Seattle's skies for its annual event, Seafair. Looks like they're dive-bombing this poor bird, but they're not!
Very busy today and didn't have time to take any photos here in Belgrade! This one is from last Wednesday, when my son and I left Athens. These Greek Orthodox priests were on their way somewhere, but not on our plane. I feel reassured when there's a man (or woman, for that matter) of the cloth on a plane I ride on....
I've been saving this one for a Skywatch. It was taken not long ago during Belgrade's Air Show. I didn't attend, but watched from our terrace...and snapped a couple of photos. Airport City Belgrade, located in New Belgrade, is a complex of 12 glass buildings used for office and retail space. I live not far away. The complex is situated on the site of the old Belgrade airport, which was built before WWII, and later destroyed by the Germans in 1944. Because parking is so difficult in the older parts of the city, many foreign and local businesses like the pictured UniCredit Bank and Telenor are seeking office space across the Danube in New Belgrade.
In New Belgrade especially, mosquitos can be quite a problem. Several times each summer the City sprays areas along the Danube and Sava against these pests. From my porch I have an excellent view (?) of the planes used for this purpose and their approach.
