This is the time of year when we look to the future, eager to hit the reset button on our lives and start fresh with the turning of the blank calendar page. It’s the time of year when we envision becoming the best version of ourselves: eating better, exercising more, spending less. New year, new resolutions, new you, right? And, the pundits will tell you, when you’re helped along with all the latest gadgets and gizmos—the smart watches, the tracking apps, the weight-loss drugs, the talking refrigerators, our new BFFs Alexa and Siri—you’re virtually guaranteed success. But doesn’t it seem, though, that every time we embrace one of these life-changing technological advances, we lose something, too?
