Howard Burton

Biography

I have a PhD in theoretical physics and an MA in philosophy and was the Founding Director of Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (PI). After my years at PI, I started Ideas Roadshow, a venture dedicated to using the power of film to accessibly present a wealth of fascinating research ideas to a broad general audience in a clear and compelling way.

At Ideas Roadshow we started off doing that through filmed conversations featuring more than 100 leading researchers across the arts and sciences and a large collection of short documentaries (65).

Since the pandemic I have been following my strong interest in history by creating several historical documentaries, including Pandemic Perspectives (2022), Through The Mirror of Chess: A Cultural Exploration (2023), Raphael: A Portrait (2024), Botticelli's Primavera (2025), Raphael's School of Athens (2025), Sofonisba's Chess Game (2025) and Descent: How America Lost Its Mind, Soul & Moral Compass (2025).
