Dirty Wrong Love

I ran so fast to buy this novella as soon as I finished Project FU. I loved how that book set up for this one and couldn’t wait to see how it all turned out. Which is why I’m so sad to say that this one left me a little disappointed in the direction it took. I feel like it did Nolan a little dirty. I spent the first book falling in love with him, his personality and acceptance, his kind words and thoughtful advice. Fell in love with his and Tavis’ dynamic and relationship, as well as the push and pull between Nolan and the boys, and their relationship with their father. Seeing how much the boys wanted him and the chemistry between each character and Nolan was so thrilling. So when I got to this book and he’s basically reduced to a matchmaker for the boys and their father, I was a bit put out. The first part of the book Skye and Orion are focused on each other while also wanting Nolan quite a bit, but once their feelings for their dad change and Tavis sees them as lovers Nolan is kind of relegated to the outside as an extra. Like he could literally be in no part of this book and it doesn’t feel like it would have changed anything. Skye and Orion said a couple times how much they loved each other and loved their relationship with their father and then qualified that it wouldn’t have happened without Nolan as basically an afterthought. I feel like skye being the center, for lack of a better word, was intentional, but it also made Nolan’s place even more of an afterthought. As soon as the family got together, it was like Nolan was an accessory. I think the story only being in Skye and Orion’s POV really hurt with relationship building. We didn’t get any talks or tension or chemistry with Nolan specifically and the boys. For all the build up of the first book, they seemed to forget he exists once their dad saw them as something more. We didn’t get to see Nolan build something with each of them. We saw them and their dad and each other, and then Nolan was just there too. It was such a missed opportunity. Not having that relationship building on top of making Skye the center and having all the emphasis on them with their dad, just forced him out. Once it started sexually with everyone their want for their dad trumped everything and that kind of sucks. Having Nolan and Tavis’ POV, even if it was only a couple chapters, as well as even small dedicated scenes with Nolan and each of the boys separate from the group or their father to show their chemistry and deeper connection would have changed everything. I just wanted this to be more, I wanted more for Nolan, he needed to be more important to make what he went through worth it. Maybe if I read this on its own and not had the background knowledge of the first book it wouldn’t bother me so much. The writing for both books was so good I couldn’t rate less than 4 ⭐️, but while the first was 5⭐️ for me, this one is more like 3 rounded up to 3.5 because the first was so good and all the scenes were super hot, so I rounded up to 4 total. I’m also a little put out that we never got the scene of Nolan getting ridden and taken and giving oral all at the same time. Total missed opportunity there.
