ANNOUNCEMENTS IN MGW/MSS
In the MSC Server concept, the announcements are delivered by the
MGW and the MSC Server controls the announcements via the H.248
Megaco protocol.
Announcement speech format is 64 kbit/s coded with the A-law/μ-law
codec.
Announcements are generated from MGW Rel.4 in the format they are
needed for the subscriber (for example, AMR-coded).
Announcement sample files are stored in VANU.
Annoucement source files (*.VAT, *.VAD, *.VAL) are stored in the OMU
WDU.
The TCU is used for inserting an announcement from a given termination
point to the user
connection.
The speech recordings are transcoded with a suitable codec when
needed.
DSP
MSC Server's call control requests announcements in different call phases.
MSS requests announcement connections from MGW using the H.248
protocol (MEGACO).
The MGW Rel.4 announcement service selects VANU, connects
announcements internally to the user plane termination (TDM, ATM, IP)
and replies. MGW Rel.4 ends the announcement with a MEGACO request
received from MSC Server.

ORIGIN ANALYSIS
The origin analysis is made to
mobile-originated calls to find the
call's charging origin.
The call phases in which the
analysis is made come before the
routing and charging analysis
MS Category in DX200 MSC internal form:
ordinary Four cell-dependent tariff classes are used:
Coin Box (payphone)
Priority 00 Tariff 0
Test 01 Tariff 1
02 Tariff 2
MS Power capability in binary format: 03 Tariff 3
000 class 1. vehicle and portable
001 class 2. portable Charging Origin (CORG)
010 class 3. hand-held
011 class 4. hand-held 0...254
100 class 5. hand-held
ORIGIN ANALYSIS
calling party category (obtained from the VLR )
cell tariff (stored to the Cell Data File (CDAFIL)).
The cell tariff is used if the originating cell location affects the charging
of the mobile station (MS).
mobile station power capability (obtained from the MS)
class = MS power capability
ct = cell tariff
cpc = calling party category
corg = charging origin
MML COMMANDS

ZRVI Interrogate Origin Analysis
ZRVC Create the Origin Analysis
ZRVM Modification of Origin Analysis - only the charging
origin can be modified
ZRVD Deletion of Origin Analysis
AREA SERVICE NUMBERS
AREA SERVICE NUMBER – actual call number for the service
area access point. The call will be routed to the area service
number of the nearest location offering the service.
MML COMMANDS
ZRUI Interrogate Area Service Number

ZRUM . Modification of Area Service Number only the analysis
tree and type of number can be modified
ZRUD Deletion of Area Service Number
