INTRODUCTION
?
FOR WHOM IS THIS GUIDE?
Hello!
If you are an entrepreneur with an artist's spirit and you are experiencing creative block
it doesn't let you expand all your creativity, lack of motivation, ideas, or simply
Do you want more tools to develop your imagination and create new content, pro-
ducts and formats; then this guide is for you!
Many times we start producing at full capacity, working nonstop, and the daily activities...
Dianas consume our time and energy; studies, children, life itself!
Don't worry, that artist lion or lioness is surely locked up in your
an inner cage waiting to be freed and here I bring you the key, haha. (key and food because
They must be so hungry that when they go out, they will want to eat the world!)
That's why if you are looking to retrain your creativity, enhance it, unleash it and de-
to spark your imagination to feel that thrill of creation again, you are in the right place
indicated!
In this guide, I will tell you the best strategies to awaken your creativity, techniques
that I trained and refined myself for years as an improviser, director, and educator.
Theatrical Improvisation.

THE 4 TECHNIQUES ARE:

1) (CAE) Confront, Accept, and Listen to your ideas

Get used to the unforeseen
3) Start from anywhere: There are no good beginnings.
4) The technique of the Summation of proposals

CREATIVITY IS
LIKE A MUSCLE;
THE MORE WE TRAIN
IT WORKS BETTER.

3
All people are creative! Don't think it's just for a few. There is no such thing as
a tap of the magic wand without effort or consistency. The creative process is a job
what is learned and trained.

Below I give you tools that will unlock your creativity, make it easier for you
imagination will enhance your confidence and allow you to go into 'creative mode'
from now on and forever. And why not? Infecting you with the passion for Improvisation
theatrical!

Welcome!

?
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO GET FROM THIS GUIDE?
Theatrical improvisation -a technique in which I specialize- is a discipline of the arts
scenic but also (and this is what I like the most) it is a compendium of techniques
to create.

What to create? Whatever you want: Scenes, content, stories, posts, music, drawings; since
it can be applied in any individual or group creative process. Here you will learn a
new way of creating that will change your life forever (no exaggeration...)

4
"IMPROVISE" THAT BAD WORD....
"Improvising" generally has a negative popular meaning, it means: not prepared-
rar, not foresee, be irresponsible; and who knows how many more ugly things... Here I am going to...
replace that concept of 'Improvisation' with 'improvisation techniques' that we per-
how:

A) Facilitate the creative process: allowing us to create from the purest and most spontaneous.
from our being, rescuing our most playful side and teaching us to listen actively-
mind, communicate better and connect in our ideas.

B) Giving us tools that allow us to act in the face of unforeseen events; generating
value starting from them. By practicing the technique we will be able to reconcile with the misconceptions
and mistakes learning to see them as creative opportunities. Isn't it great?

Creativity is training. You will fall, you will get hurt, and you will make mistakes;
That's what learning is about. You have to make mistakes! Get up quickly and play again.

Like when you learned to ride a bike (unless you've never learned, if that's the case)
so leave this book and go already!!!)

And please... from here on out and forever:

Never say: 'I am not going to make a mistake'
On the contrary, say it again: "I am going to make a mistake and I don't care!"

Let's get started!

5
CAE
THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE
IMPROVISATION TECHNIQUE
These are the basics: what you must know before you jump into improvising or creating.
This is like warming up, like rotating your ankles, putting on exercise clothes.

?
Why CAE?

Confiar -Aceptar -Escuchar

I also like the verb 'to fall' because when we create, we fall a little into the void.
We are not going to jump in headfirst because that will intimidate us and will prevent us from
let's take action so calm down, don't feel dizzy! let yourself fall
a little and that's it.

7
TO TRUST
IN THE FIRST IDEA, ALWAYS!
TRUST THE FIRST IDEA
Ideas are not in the air, they are not in an exclusive place where the geniuses of the world
They arrive and touched by the wand, they take some: Dalí, Picasso, Chaplin, Einstein. All
they worked to generate them because the ideas are within us, we just have to listen
talks and accept them.

Trust generates confidence

Confidence is that cushion that allows us to jump. They are two sides of the same coin.
currency (if I work in a group or if I train alone) if I signal, others will also be able to
Conquer in you. Give trust and conquer.

TRUST IS THE ENGINE OF CREATIVITY - "BELIEVE IN YOURSELF"

Repeat all the time: 'I trust my ideas' 'It doesn't matter if they are great, I'm going to work
and to be able to learn in them. When we learn to take risks, to make mistakes, to laugh at ourselves
and discover new paths.

• TRUST IN MISTAKES
It is impossible to advance, create, play, or propose without making mistakes. Knowing in advance that
Mistakes allow us to de-dramatize errors and continue moving forward.

Beware of those who never make mistakes. Showing weaknesses makes us strong.
vulnerability makes us human, subjects. It puts us in a place of lack and in general
that is where creativity appears.

ALWAYS REPEAT ONE OF MY

HEADER MANTRAS
I TRUST THAT I AM LEAVING
TO MISTAKE VERY WELL

8
ACCEPT
I mean, yes (that's easy!)
Tell him yes to the first idea without judging it.
Accept your own ideas, those that come from unknown, unconscious places. Say
that 'yes' without hesitation and you will see how soon they will multiply.

THERE IS NO BEST IDEA, THERE ARE IDEAS

Giving value to the first idea leads to a second, a third, a fourth, and we
we make a mistake haha we laugh and continue, then a fifth appears, then a lighting and
suddenly a plateau and like this... only by accepting the first will you be able to advance towards the
others.

SAY "YES" AND FORGET ABOUT THE "BUTS"

If I say 'yes' to the first idea, this idea will feel confident and will call for another one, and so on.
Again. The "NO" is a brake on creativity, a blocker of ideas. There are several blo-
idea blockers, which prevent us from getting into a creative mode. Knowing them will help you
facilitate work.

THE "YES" IS THE PORTAL TO CREATIVITY

I like to call it a portal because it's like entering another dimension; a door always.
It is there, and it divides one known place from another known place. In contrast, the 'if' divides the known...
Of the unknown, that is the world we want to explore.

THE "YES" IS THE BEGINNING OF ACTION

It is very common to say 'no' out of fear of the unknown, or with the false belief that
that my idea is not going to be liked or I will not know what to do afterwards. But they all believe-
limiting beliefs that prevent you from starting to create, so forget about "NO" and just do it. There is
to walk through unknown places to achieve different results.

Put the 'yes' in your mouth and in your heart.

9
LISTEN
BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE, FIRST OF ALL
Train active listening! Many times it seems that we listen but we have the
busy mind thinking about obligations, duties, prejudices and we don't really pay attention
Attention. So to train active listening you have to:

EMPTY THE MIND

Listen without preconceptions, without thoughts that cloud your imagination and limit your
Listen. If you have your mind occupied thinking about things when you should be proposing, it's not...
after all, you won't be fully present nor will you be able to react spontaneously. The more to the point
Let's go, we will be able to propose about what is happening.

Listen before speaking

Listen before proposing: How is the audience? How are your clients? How is your colleague?
Is there an audience? How is the atmosphere? Are there noises, is it hot? How is the
paper, your body, your senses? Listen to the whole and then based on what comes to you and
you propose.

LISTEN TO THE WHOLE

It means to open the senses, to adopt an active position of reception. Not just to listen.
the texts or the verbal, what my interlocutor tells me, but to go further and listen to the am-
environment, the social economic situation, the historical circumstance, etc.

Listening is more than hearing

Listening seriously to the other (or even to oneself) allows us to open up more. The list-
Active listening enables smoother communication. Not only what the other person says.
It matters, not just as he says it, but also his gestures, body language, the unspoken, etc.

• LISTEN IN PRESENT TIME

What happens in the here and now is what gives us the possibility to create and connect with
the people. We listen, we act, always in that order, being fully present
to be able to modify or forward whatever is necessary.

LISTEN WITH ALL SENSES

CONNECTS YOU WITH THE OUTSIDE, WITH THE
PUBLIC, WITH OTHERS AND ALLOWS YOU
GIVE MORE CREATIVE ANSWERS.

10
NOW TO PRACTICE!
Now we are going to train the first point: Connive, accept, listen

EXERCISE 1 - 'CREATE FROM THE SENSES'

Set the timer and take 2-3 minutes to listen to everything happening around you and
inside your mind and write everything down!
Write everything you hear and everything you imagine, interpreting those sounds, sense-
Actions, loose noises. Giving them content. Do it at the same moment you hear it.
Chas, don't wait to have all the information about what is exactly happening.
Everything you hear, accept it (say yes to it!) translate it into words and trust your creativity. The
the idea is not to interpret reality but to inspire you to imagine things.

Example: I hear my little neighbor playing on the Play, I imagine he is playing one of those role-playing games, I hear the brake.
from a bus and I imagine it brings people who are going to work who come from the center that some stayed
asleep in a seat, I hear a little bird I imagine is going to its nest because there are 3 or 4 chicks waiting.
And they still haven't eaten, I hear a strange sound it must be a car engine or ... everything!

TIPS:
TIP 1: Remember to repeat to yourself "Yes, and..." and do it quickly! Get into it.
time does not give you a place to think or judge yourself.

TIP 2: Spelling rules don't matter! Don't correct. Take advantage of any unforeseen event.
mistake, blunder. Don't delete them! Leave them there and make yourself use them no matter what.

TIP 3: Every time your thought appears (because it will appear, I assure you), 'that
stupid thought came to me... get it out of your mind as fast as possible! Think that it's your cen-
she's trying to limit you so beat her to it. Tell her 'yes yes, it's stupid and I don't'
Import it!” And keep producing without caring about anything.

OBJECTIVE OF THE EXERCISE:

This exercise motivates you to translate into words the stimuli that you see, hear, and feel!
It allows you to convert loose sensations into content, giving meanings to perceptions.
It's meaningless. It doesn't matter what the truth is, what matters is that you are creating, producing-
providing content from different stimuli and training your active listening.

LET'S PLAY!

11
Get along with
THE UNFORESEEN
THE UNFORESEEN AFTER ALL
IT IS ANOTHER PROPOSAL
The unforeseen, error, mistake, is that inevitable event that happens and leaves us in
check; in a before and an after. It is inevitable: because it is unforeseen, simply.
it happened; it was a pandemic, a pipe burst, a light fell from the ceiling of the school-
Nario, we were going to hold the conference in a hall and they moved us to a park.

But.. I bring you good news! We can use it to add value! or we can
To deny it and remain in frustration; it is our decision.

WE CANNOT AVOID THE UNFORESEEN BUT WE CAN DECIDE

WHAT DO WE DO WITH IT.

THERE IS NO ERROR, THERE ARE DECISIONS Only if we accept and listen to what this
happening we will be able to give creative responses.

• THE UNEXPECTED IS A MAS PROPOSAL In the creative processes, in fact,

Let's try to force the unforeseen. Just having proposals, ideas, facts, not.
our creativity is enhanced.

You can only dare to embrace the new by accepting that you will make mistakes.
that is a fundamental aspect of the creative process: Search, test, risk to create
new things. If we do what we already know, we are not creating anything.

Getting comfortable with mistakes, errors, and accidents will allow you to take a QUALITATIVE LEAP.
For example, a painter paints a landscape and suddenly a brushstroke escapes from him.
color, you can try to cover it up, erase it or you can create something there, embellishing that "error".
that was neither in their thoughts nor in their imagination before. The unexpected gives us
the possibility of becoming creative. Let's take advantage of it.

Do you want to be an oyster?

When a small grain of sand accidentally gets introduced into the depths of the sea
you are in an oyster (as a form of protection and for not having tentacles or hands
to take it off) She does not deny it, she accepts it and begins to segregate a crystalline substance.
called 'nacre' or 'mother of pearl', applies several layers of that 'slime' until covering it
the irritating object/accident is completed. This is how the much-desired pearl is born.

UNFORESEEN EVENTS ARE THE SAND

THAT ENTERS WITHIN US.
WE CAN EXPEL THEM OR WORK WITH
THEY TURNING THEM INTO PEARLS.

13
NOW TO PRACTICE!
Now we are going to train Point 2: Making Friends with the Unexpected

EXERCISE 2 "UNEXPECTED WORDS"

The exercise consists of telling an improvised story and inserting unexpected words.
views every now and then having to justify their inclusion.

I leave you these loose words (use your finger and point to them at random when the time comes)
You can conjugate the verbs, I put them in infinitive.

ALMENDRA – PASARELA – MONTAÑA LEJANA - CAMALEON – PRENSA – LAVAR

SALTAR – DESBORDAR – AMARILLO – CAMINO – ARBOLEDA – BLANCA – CRUCE

ELEPHANT

RESOLVER – TROZO -VACA – ALARMA – FABRICA – SANGUCHE – OJO – MENSULA

Example:
Once upon a time there was a ship sailing the high seas full of...
You take a pause) without hesitation you point randomly at one of those words and you have to continue the story from there:

Once upon a time there was a ship sailing on the high seas full of... GROVES
it was deserted and needed trees. (Then you accept, you say yes and... and you justify that word you inserted
in your story) and we move forward!

[Link].

TIPS:
TIP 1: Do not choose the word to insert that best suits the story; on the contrary,
be well unpredictable, surprise yourself! Ally with the unforeseen!
TIP 2: You can write more random words on a page and print them out to have them like
Loose little papers to play whenever you want!

OBJECTIVE OF THE EXERCISE:

The idea is that these words surprise you and you manage not to get angry with them, but rather everything
contrary. Have fun and strive to justify them. There you have to peel (and appeal) your creativity.
Dad. Instead of denying and getting frustrated, get creative.

piece? What do I do with the blank sheet? What will my first note be, my first idea,
the topic I am going to talk about? Ahhhhhh how many things!!!

Here are the keys to start without tormenting yourself ever again!

START FROM ANY SIDE

There is no certain beginning. It could be an idea that came to your mind out of nowhere,
A word, a sound, a piece of music, anything can help you create. The important thing
Aunt, make sure you write that down on paper or in audio, so it doesn't stay in your mind. Ground it.

VALUE ALL IDEAS AND WRITE THEM DOWN

Everything is useful. Even if you think that what you came up with is for later, or for the

head to make those crazy paths that, without us trying, finds how to connect that
What you noted maybe a month ago, a week ago, or three years ago. Write it all down! Listen to me.

DO NOT FEAR CHAOS

There will always be chaos at the beginning, you have to be able to deal with it without trying to organize it.
Avoiding your more rational brain trying to fit everything because there will already be
time for that. You have to endure that big bang moment of ideas that appear without
Order, you will see that later they will connect magically.

SUSPICION OF GOOD BEGINNINGS

In general, there are no good beginnings; and if everything goes well from the start, one might suspect...
ha... hehe no; it's a joke, but if you see that you keep progressing and at no time
entering chaos or crisis means that something is not working well or that you are in your zone of
comfort and you are not risking enough.

THE BEST MOMENT IS THERE!

And as a summary of all this, start whenever, when you go to the bathroom, when you...
whether you are showering or cooking. Listen to the ideas that come to you, stop doing
Whatever you are doing for a second, don’t procrastinate and write them down. You’ve already started.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO START BY DOING IT RIGHT,

YOU HAVE TO START IN ORDER TO DO IT RIGHT

16
NOW TO PRACTICE!
Now we are going to train Point 3: Where do I start?

EXERCISE 3 "DIVERSE BEGINNINGS"

I'll leave you different beginnings - triggers here, you have to invent one.
story with each of them:

A story begins with:

A HUG
An action defined (for example, washing clothes, watering plants, boarding a plane, etc.)
A WASSAP AUDIO from your phone. Listen to it randomly, take it out of context and make something up.
a different story than the one you know
A moment of the day and a WEATHER; for example, 'it was a summer night' 'it was a morning'
of autumn
A stray sentence that you take from a book (I opened a book, read a random sentence, and with that
invent a story or tale
A LOCATION (a place; for example, the living room of a house, a train station, a
sanatorium etc)

There are thousands more, but for now, with these you will have enough to keep you entertained!

TIPS:
TIP 1: So the first thing that comes to your mind; do not censor yourself, nor deny yourself or doubt.
Listen, trust and accept your own ideas without hesitation. If jokes or misunderstandings come to mind,
thoughts that surprise you use them! Surprise yourself!
TIP 2: Please decontextualize, do not bring reality into this as it is everywhere and
it limits our creativity. Try to act, to invent, to fly with your little head.

OBJECTIVE OF THE EXERCISE:

The idea is that the different proposals can show you that any beginning is
valid. And that you can inspire yourself to create stories of the most diverse kinds, imagine worlds
different, colors, climates, seasons this way we force your creativity to come out of the known.
Please be very unconscious!

LET'S PLAY!

17
SUMMATION
OF PROPOSALS
THE INFALLIBLE TECHNIQUE
The method of 'summation of proposals' invites us to build from what already exists. The
The technique consists of proposing an idea and adding another one to it (that builds on it, that
advance) and so on.

Not to think 4 ideas ahead, or in the whole history. Not to think beyond what
we have. We must control our reasoning that always wants to go to the future, to the
result. We also have to fight against denial and destruction of the
ideas, which is something that happens all the time.

?
AHH! WHICH ONE DO I CHOOSE?
?WHICH ONE IS BETTER FOR ME?

WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

If you propose something and then think about it: 'no, I'd better propose something else' and about

You can't move forward or create. Remember that there is no best idea, there are ideas!

What is the TECHNIQUE OF THE SUMMATION OF PROPOSALS?

1 - SAY IF TO THE FIRST IDEA

When an IDEA appears, say Yes! (Example: "The bird landed on a branch")

2 - SUM
Then you add another idea to that, and you say again 'Yes! And...' ('Yes! And next to him, it rested a

3 - DO NOT BLOCK
Try not to deny or say 'but' ('but the fly left... no no no! Don't do that!
Let him stay

4 - DO NOT DESTROY
Try not to destroy your own creations (or those of your team); ('and the branch broke
and the bird fell and died... "no no no! Let's not do that! Let's keep it alive)
with what there is! From what there is

5 - NO BLABLEES
Try to avoid making dialogues or to make few, just the necessary ones, heh, otherwise the person-
They will just go on talking blah blah blah and won't take action. Prioritize actions!

6 - ADVANCE BY ACCEPTING AND TAKING ACTION

Accept the previous proposal and move forward one step at a time without thinking about the future.
The bird, next to the fly, began to sing; it was a goldfinch. Yes, and the fly looked at him and
He started to do what flies do to respond to that psssss psssss, yes, and the

2O
NOW TO PRACTICE!
Now we are going to train Point 4: The technique of summing proposals.
EXERCISE 4 "THE YES, AND..."
In this exercise, I give you different sentences to start stories and you have to continue.
those tales saying: 'Yes, and...'

Remember! Do not say 'No', or 'but', nor destroy anything you created, try not to doubt or
ask; on the contrary, resolve, make decisions and do not make the protagonists fight or argue.
Gonistas. Ufff, how many things Paufa!!

Here go the sentences:

Marco and Natalia went on an expedition to the jungle. Yes, and…

Juana María always forgets to buy fruit whenever she goes to buy vegetables. Yes, and...
- Pedro was running late to the office that day, so he decided to take the train. Yes, and…
Incredibly, many many years ago at Stanford University, every time there was...
a notebook fell from some desk, a professor was coughing in a class, yes and...
It was a rainy night. Yes, and...

TIPS:
TIP 1: To make the story 'move forward', propose actions that lead to the protagonists.
from a place A to a place B (the best way to do this is to introduce verbs 'jumped, ran, sailed,'
it started to rain, they knocked on his door, etc)

TIP 2: Not thinking about the future, not 'worrying' about what is going to happen, how it is going to continue or
to finish the story or to go step by step, one proposal then another and so on, brick by brick.

OBJECTIVE OF THE EXERCISE:

The goal is for you to start creating with any idea, but not to feel overwhelmed by
what will happen next unless you start creating step by step.

The best way to create is by having a clear direction while walking step by step, training-
of the Present. And perhaps the course will change along the way because it gave us more desire to do another
Something, well let it change! Allow yourself to modify during the creative process because that's where it's real.
