(Mandatory for Girls aged 9 to 14)
September 2025
Dear Parents,
The Government of Sindh is implementing a vaccination drive to administer the HPV vaccine for
girls. This is a mandatory requirement and your daughter will be able to receive the vaccine in
school. We are sharing the information we have received so far and will update you with further
details once they are shared with us regarding the date, time and procedure for the vaccinations to
take place.
“I am Dr. Usama Mashkoor and on behalf of the Government of Sindh, I am hereby directed to
inform you about the upcoming vaccination program. The Government of Sindh is going to conduct
a new campaign of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination from 15th to 27th September 2025.
The vaccination campaign is basically a primary prevention programme against CERVICAL
CANCER. HPV causes cervical cancer along with other genital disorders in women. Therefore,
the target population for this vaccination is the female population from 9 to 14 years of age.
According to a study sponsored by the Aga Khan University, the Human Papillomavirus and
Related Cancers, Fact Sheet 2023, recent estimates indicate that every year in Pakistan, 5,008
women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and 3,197 die from the disease. Cervical cancer ranks
as the 3rd most frequent cancer among women in Pakistan and the 2nd most frequent cancer among
women between 15 and 44 years of age. An awareness session in your school can also be conducted
regarding this campaign.
The administration of the school is therefore instructed to handover / provide data of all girls aged
between 9 to 14 years studying in your school by tomorrow. The data format is provided as an
attachment which has to be filled in accordingly. An official letter from the concerned authority is
also attached with this email highlighting the importance of this programme.”
