Why Study Online?

Open more doors

Interact with your professors and fellow students on an on-
going basis; ask questions, participate in discussions, and col-
laborate on projects – all digitally, through our online campus.

As an online student at UFred, you’ll have access to more

opportunities, with fewer obstacles like time and distance
restraints standing in your way to greatness.

Forward-thinking programs
Learn the most up-to-date, industry-relevant knowledge as
part of our innovative online programs. As an early adopter of
online education, we’re dedicated to making the most of new
technologies.

Your chosen program will give you the best tools to succeed in
tomorrow’s job market, with a strong emphasis on digital skills
and adaptability.

Freedom & flexibility

Have more control over your schedule, even as a student: our
programs don’t require any travelling, not for classes or even
exams. Everything takes place 100% online.

This way, you don’t need to put a stop to your life or career
to pursue higher education. Study alongside your career and
family obligations and reach your full potential.

Dedicated support
With nearly 20 years of online education experience, we’ve
developed a strong understanding of online students’ needs.
Our services and staff are dedicated to guiding and assisting
you throughout your learning journey at UFred.

Plus, you can take full advantage of your online campus and
interact with peers from all over Canada: build a professional
network that will support you throughout your studies and
beyond.

05
What Your Studies
Will Look Like
Orientation
To ensure a smooth start to your studies, we offer an online
orientation event where we introduce the tools and processes
that will be a part of your academic journey. If you’ve chosen
to study a program that offers a virtual classroom, you’ll have
a chance to meet your fellow students during this event.

Planning a schedule
Most of our programs are offered on a term-based model.
You can choose if you want to take 1 or 2 courses each term,
and you’ll either have virtual classes to build your learning
schedule around, or the freedom to learn independently (while
making sure to meet course deadlines), depending on the
program.

Using your network

Most of your learning will be done independently each week,
but you’ll have ample chances to interact with other students,
our student support services and your professors or instruct-
ors, who offer regular virtual office hours. Collaborate on
coursework to make the most out of your university experi-
ence, and develop your collaborative work skills – a crucial
asset for any business student.

Staying on track
Managing your studies can be challenging, especially when
combined with work and family commitments. Thankfully, with
close to 20 years of online education experience, we’ve de-
veloped ways to help our students successfully navigate these
challenges. Our team is always available to offer the support
you need to reach your goals and graduate.

Making Time for Your Studies:
Tips from Our Students

“Construct a flexible schedule. Write on a calendar the days and

hours of the week you will commit to your studies, and stick to it!
Allow a few hours a week for self-care. Remember life happens –
allow for fluidity in your calendar.”
Andrea Floyd

“I break my work into smaller pieces and try to get as much done
before the load of laundry is ready. It’s almost like a contest to see if
I can get bigger sections finished each time.”
Dionne Quintin

“I currently try and focus on my studies in the morning hours. I am

an early riser and work best when my household is quiet. So I get
up around 5 a.m. every day and work on assignments. I usually take
a break and address any commitments I have as going on as soon
as businesses open.”
Chantalle Chiasson

“I found the textbooks are often available in audio format. I used

this to my advantage and would listen to a chapter as I cleaned the
house, took my dog for a walk, or worked out at the gym.”
Jessica Flynn
